Wtf has rim size got to do with it? He's talking about the sidewall height which gets pretty high when you have a 60 series tyre bigger than about a 205, but if you like the four wheel drive/tractor look go for it.

Holding back tears off laughter while I read that ck ! I drive on 40 series all the time & 35 series on my ss i wouldn't describe it as harsh apart from with the strut brace on a rougher road. Gary

Ill rephrase that comment.

Gary said it would be ridiculous when a
205/60 is same more or less as 235/60 in
height.i said what rim because you can have
lets say a 6 rim with 225/235/60 would look
too big for rim.
Thats why i mentioned a 235 would suit an 8.

Ill change the frOcking word for you gary

Lets say they ride a little less smoother
heh..hows that..

Well not really the 235 will be almost 40mm taller than the 205, 36mm to be exact.

& that is what we are trying to say is the tyre is 1.5" taller, that's like raising your car by 1.5" instead of lowering it, you can do it if you like guy's, but i wouldn't personally on mine.

Imho..this whole tire aspect ratio is pretty unscientific.
I remember back in the day when these cars were newish...you'd see 2 cars with same wheels sitting side by side. ...2 different brand tires , both 205/60/13 or whatever. .and they looked totally different. Im not sure you can reliably actually calculate that it is 205 wide..then it must be xx high if its a xx series.

Hey maz, all good bud, none of us know everything, there's thing's you could tell me mate. That's how the aspect ratio works,i did it in my training years ago, i did mechanical before the panel. & there's mechanics in my family and friends circle & machinists. Gary

I like those rims on your 4 door too.

Howdy Ken.

Here are some Blockleys on 7.5" rims on the rear of the LH

Fronts are 185/80/13.Sumitomos. Diameters are very close

Plenty of room and looks great and finally front spoiler clearing that bloody dip at the end of the lane.

Yep. I've been getting updates from Antique Tyres, in fact they sent me an invoice for a set without me actually ordering any. Pity they wouldn't send them without me paying as well...

Found this tyre size calculator to do a comparison between a 195/70/13" (which is about as close as I can find to the original size tyres fitted to the XU1) and the 235/50/13".

B70H13 for the 5.5" steel rim, which would be approx equal to a 185/70/13 and CR70H13 on the 6.00" Sprintmasters, which would be approx equal to a 195/70/13.

Yea, I've just found the b70 sizes. Couldn't find if there was a different tyre fitted to the Sprintmasters.

Bloody hard to find info on converting the old b, c, d, e sizes to current sizing.

XU1 tyre placard has CR70H13 listed against the 6.00" wheels and the only 6.00" x 13" wheels fitted to an LJ XU1 were the Sprintmasters.

Last set of 5 i got delivery was $100 on top of purchase price. Ex east
Then some mai say 205/13/60 are not wide enough , they fit well on the 7. " rear rims.
