Is yours factory or aftermarket?
My firewall linkage has distinct bends, first looks like to clear the booster and the other is to end up sitting level onto firewall pivot bracket.

Im sure I heard a story about the change to battery -- but cant remember if it was a date/year thing or where it was built.
The pic isn't of my car. Just one I found on file. I keep pics of everything.
The one on my LC GTR was bent to accommodate a 350 holley so mine needs fixing also. I am most likely going to buy
one new.
Here is a set available new from Repros 'R' us in Melbourne. $50 for both.
These are the only other pics that may help

Yep, mine (1970 build) has the battery tray 'anchored' return spring, and the bend in the control rod. Also noticed a dealer pic I have shows the carby return spring hooked up to battery tray whereas the parts book shows a bracket...any thoughts??
I recall seeing a factory photo of a return spring anchored to a 'you beaut' bracket. (from memory, Bazza had the pic).
He seems to think that there may've been a variation in later models.

There are a couple of original pics. I think this setup was dispensed with pretty early in the piece.

dpz - the pic of the 2600s engine is from my car, the linkage in these pics are from the shot.
As you can see the linkage has 4 bends, the first clears the booster bracket and the remaining 2 step it down to end up sitting parallel onto pivot bracket.
I have spoken to another one owner lc gtr owner who says his has 2 bends closer to the pivot brackets but did say that over the years as it wore the linkage would foul over booster bracket...so his thinking is that they may have altered this rod to clear booster bracket along with heater box.
What is noticeable about my set up is that the main linkage rod runs parallel along firewall whereas other are running at an angle down the pivot bracket

and here are some pics of my butchered one. The car is currently being stripped.
Not sure if mine is worth the trouble repairing.
Are you going to straighten yours out? It seems that the only factory bends are the ones nearer the carb.

the way is bent its looks very factory (if i can use that statement) because it clears the brake booster sits nicely along firewall tucks under heater box then meets the pivot bracket perfectly level

I just found these on file....
You are definitely right and I stand corrected. I thought there was only 1 design for these.
At a glance my bent one may have started its life looking like yours. I will have to inspect this closer.
Hope these help.

Your first pic is identical to my linkage. I always suspected that GMH made a change to that firewall shaft because the earlier one appear to foul over booster and have clearance issues under heater box.

Yep, thats the part. The shopping cart section of 'repros' is down at the moment but I emailed them to arrange the rods anyways and yeah, if I know the dimensions of the firewall bracket/pivot and position from the single throat carb firewall bracket, I could get a mech engineer to make it up and I'll get a welder and mig the bracket on...

Would bending the stock firewall bracket straight work anyone? The linkages are on the way and the pivot came today....
bending the stock one is a no go. the gtr one sits to the right of it. Rough measurements in my dark garage and with a ruler....
..for the triangle - about 80mm across the bottom and 80 mm to top center. So the overall size is bigger than the stock bracket you are talking about.
If you bend one up and have the firewall and carby rods it should be easy to work out an exact spot for the triangular pivot.
In mine it is about 4 - 5 mm to the right of the stock unit.
There is just enough room between it and the firewall lip above it for the brake line to squeeze through.
The upright rod sits about 35mm high.
Does any of this make sense?
