Update for anyone interested. I got my failed ML1214 struts re-gassed and yesterday lifted up the hatch (hadn't been up for some time) and one of the struts has failed leaking oil everywhere. I went to business called LiftEasy and they sold me another set which he says is somewhat stronger than the ML 1214, which are for an Astra. Looking at my strut brackets I am wondering if the bracket that bolts to the underside of the hatch lid should have the pin pointing inwards or outwards. I've had a look at a few pics on the web and some point in and some point out. Was wondering if this is why mine are failing. Cheers Ron
