Any thoughts of going back to White?
I'd like a White one.....

Not in the foreseeable future. All spare funds these days are headed towards my HQ coupe resto.

Plus I quite like the orange, it looks real nice out in the sun.

White is good. Paint it the original colour.

Are there any other groups/organizations other than CAMS thay may be able to assist me in attempts to discover the cars alleged racing past?

Holden 308 engine prefixes for the era:

11QT - HQ-late HZ Statesman

11WT - WB Statesman

11ZT - Late HZ Statesman

12WT - Late WB Statesman

308H - HT and HG

308NxxxxS - HT and HG Nasco replacement engine (for engines supplied post HQ release)

HZ - LH SLR5000 L34

HT - LH/LX SLR5000 and LX SS L31 including A9X (except LH SLR5000 L34)

On a 22/3/77 cast block the only 308 prefixes will be QT, 11QT, HT, NT and possibly (but very much unlikely) 308N. 11QT will be a TH400 block, HT and 308N will be 4spd blocks. The others could be either. VT, ZT and 11ZT didn't arrive until after mid 1978, BV was even later.

I have written authentification from GMH and I've recently declined purchase offers of $100,000 and $120,000 respectively. I've also had 2 members of the A9X Club of Australia attempt to purchase it in the past.

I'm 100% certain it's legit. I just want to prove or disprove it's racing history.

It seams a lot L34s that i know of have not got there original engine including mine but with a bit of patience you will get it , i got my original engine number the car was sold & where it was sold new from a guy here in W.A. who knows someone in S.A. who does not want to be identified .Mine was also raced at one stage and has engine oil cooler ,adjustable front swaybar, parnhard rod mounting bracket and a lot more of other gear finding out this history is a lot harder to get .It looks by the pics you have shown your car is red are you going to respray it glacier white or leave it .
Pete..

The torana is orange ( no idea what the actual colour is called ) and I don't see any reason at this stage to respray it as it's in very good condition. One day if I can verify it's racing past i would really like to return it to it's racing paint.

I can understand that you contacts wish to remain anonymous, but do you think that he would be willing to help me via you? That's if you would be kind enough to assist me.

The numbers look good to me. I think you deserve more assistance than you are getting for someone passionate about their car. If i could help more I would.

Hungus - the numbers look good to me. Would be nice to see some pics of the overall car. Colour could be anything but if they stuck to colours of the period could be sebring or saffron. There are a number of people who have the list of car details for the l34 which would give you the original engine number for the car - some of these people are on this forum - hopefully they can let you know although not sure if that is much use. Are you planning on bringing it to Phillip Island for the classic car racing / L34 get together? Strongly recommend you do as you will get info you need plus nodoubt heaps of other info. :spoton:

Yeah I thought it was gonna be really easy to track it all down, especially on a forum of this calibre. I thought for sure one of the knowledgable folk on here would have all the answers i needed.

Phillip Island is a long, long, way from where I live mate. The car ain't been out of the garage for about 6 years now. I must get round to taking some nice pics of it, I haven't had a chance yet in the last 14 years! :fool:

Hi, your car is definitely an L34 by numbers. Ordered 16/06/74 sold 05/76 through dealer 469, [Blanchard Motors Vic]. No engine number listed for your car. most L34s broke the oil pump drive shaft just after purchase so they had warrenty claims but this one did not so it could have been a race car.

L34nut ; Thanks for that, you've just given me an order date that I was unaware of. May I ask how do you know about it?

MR & MRS L34 ; That would be great, all help is greatly appreciated.
