LX SLR Tacho

hi,

wondering if anyone can help me i am restoring a 4 door SL LX sedan and fitting it with an SLR Cluster, what wiring do i have to run and to what?

i tryed running single wire from neg side coil to terminal on rear of cluster (tacho) and started the car and got nothing.

can anyone give me some info? and how do i tell if the tacho is stuffed?
