I am going to paint the LH SL/R stripe down the front guards of my LH along with the window black outs. Can anyone tell me the correct width of the small black stripe that runs parallel with the black out running down the guards? Also could you tell me the correct distance bewteen the two stripes? (If that all makes sense LOL)

Thanks.

The distance between the black-outs and stripe is around 1/4 inch (6 mm). The stripe changes thickness as it meets the front nose cone but does not cross the seam of the nose cone.

I wouldn't agree with that i have a LH slr torana with factory paint on it and the stripe goes on the nosecone!

The bottom Black stripe is 1/2 inch nearly 13mm

The gap is 1/4 inch 6.5mm

My Melbourne built 1974 LH SLR has it's original paint, or what's left of it & the stripes taper out within the last 25mm & stop at the edge of the guard where it bolts to the front apron panel. It appears the car was painted it's main colour, Sable Silver Metallic, then the black paintouts were applied in gloss black over the top by the factory.

Plenty of variations on LH SLR stripes getting around. I believe this to be original side stripe tips.

No, I did not. The pictures provided are the best guide you will get. The orange SLR5000 is an original car, I have seen it in the flesh and spoken to the owner a few times now. It's a good guide. All LH LX Toranas were made in Melbourne bar a few early pre production cars. A template was used to paint the cars stripes in the factory so they are all going to be the same, unlike the A9X's which were hand masked up at pattersons.

Interesting variations on the side stripe from the pictures posted some stop short of the nose cone while others just kiss it , Which is correct ?

next question is what is the original gloss level of the black ?
i dont beleive it to be matt or gloss, perhaps 75% of gloss

Somewhere we determined axactly the colour and gloss levels, and it should come close to the nose but not touch it, as I said the orange car is an original paint job.

What are your thoughts on the stripes on an unflared LH? With no body kit except scoop?

This is what I am about to do to my car.
No body kit just running the A9X scoop.
It should look good.
