Interesting variations on the side stripe from the pictures posted some stop short of the nose cone while others just kiss it , Which is correct ?

Although there was a template used for the stripes, it was placed on the car by human hands and therefore slight variations exist. Much like the position of the SL/R 5000 stickers.

A few measurements.

The stripes............ Starting at the rear and going to the front of the window frame on the front door. Fat stripe is 2 inches. Gap is 1/4 inch. Bottom stripe is 1/2 inch.

I will go metric now to make it a bit clearer.  The shape of the front of the door and the rear of the fender dictates the measurement. Just paint to the top. At the green arrow on the pic below, it should be 40mm.

The gap between the stripes remains a constant 1/4 inch (6.5mm)

The bottom stripe starts to taper from approximately where the red arrow is on the pic below.

It gets a bit tricky to describe the stripes as they taper towards the front of the guards so I will let the pictures do most of the talking.

By the time it is above the central part of the wheel arch the top stripe should be approx 30mm and the bottom one about 8mm.

The rest of the blackouts on the LH's were masked by hand and can be quite rough around the edges. (Pardon the pun)

This shows that the black was sprayed on after the body colour.

Thanks for all the info. This will get the job done now. Any idea if the paint was satin or gloss as I've seen both variations?

Cheers
