never needed to play with it, but it looks to be more than just on/off. is it a potentiometer?

Ive fitted one to my manual, switches out the ac on full throttle, a feature I copied off a ford I was driving.

Mine didn't look like that devilsadvocate, mine was as part of the accelorator bracket agains the firewall. I don't think I have a picture before i converted it.

Steve what you describe is exactly how the one on the UC bolts up too. As the pedal is pushed in the portion above the pivot bolt moves away from the firewall and activates the switch. In the pic above, you are looking at it as if you are in the right hand kick panel. Ill take a pic of it mounted in the car when i get home, or someone else?.............plenty of autos out there.Mine didn't look like that devilsadvocate, mine was as part of the accelorator bracket agains the firewall. I don't think I have a picture before i converted it.
it was a guess on my part, that the LJ might have exactly the same accelerator pedal/linkage.
Suppose we need someone to post a pic of an LJ one since its different.

The earlier cars, with an accellerator linkage instead of the cable set-up (LJ/HQ etc) have a different switch & bracket.
As the original post said, it looks just like a brake light switch.
