You have a 250K Monaro, etc a car worth very good money but with a damaged or missing tag. For some people that damaged or missing tag would do their head in. Want to sell this mint original car and a lot would walk away, some haggle price in 10’s of thousands. There must be someone in this world who can stamp a tag and get it spot on for the right money.

I agree that there should be a legitimate way to get replacement tags, but for every legitimate person, there are hundreds of others looking to make a quick buck by turning their L20/M40/SL into an L31/M21/SS?

Not much sense spending 5k on a blank tag if you don't have the correct equipment to stamp the factory correct numbers in it.

He is dreamin' but underneath he writes, 'best offer gets it'.

The cars that fetch 250k are the ones that have everything legit not the ones with missing tags and an old Monaro with brand new shiny tag and doubts over its authenticity wouldn't fetch that much.

If it is genuine and verifiable by other means, I'd leave the damaged tag on there, it's probably worth half the price of the car, lol.

It's a real shame that someone would make/stamp/rebirth any product, all in the name of financial greed. The poor person working overtime and weekends to save for there dream, then to be sold something fraudulently for the purpose of financial gain. One day they are to realise they have been cheated, tricked, skulduggery, sold an imposter.

Not sure what kind of trick this guy is trying to pull, but he appears to have a legit 202 SL/R and wants to sell the tags and car separately for some reason. I'm struggling to make out all the numbers on my phone screen. Can someone transcribe them?

Thanks for that. Yeah I didn't notice the part he wrote about the roller being an SL. The fact that it is matching colours car and the seller is a 0 rating account looks very sus.

Seems to think it is okay.

Is cutting car up it seems, but thinks the tags are okay with the remainder after major cuts.

clearly full of crap as he clearly states the car was scrapped 20 years ago.

I really do hate people that try and sell tags. Its so bodgy. I probably should have also copied and pasted his name but thought the numbers would be more than enough

We should come up with a stern email to send to these people stating that we take car theft and tag transferring as a very serious criminal offence and have reported their listing to the police.

The details are more important than the image for the purpose of running a search on the VIN, etc.

What a waste, whoever's car is missing those tags would be spewin... not to mention the poor sucker who just bought it.

For the search engine:

Chassis No: ALX004828M

Engine No: HZ18809

VIN: 8D69TG J539442X

Body No: 539442M

Those VIN & Body plates should be from a September '76 Mandarin Red LX SL/R 5000 with Chamois trim, probably somewhere around chassis number BLX018xxxM

And that engine number looks re-stamped to me, but should be from a July '74 cast L34 block.

Surely this has to be fraud at the very least? Falsifying a vehicles particulars for financial gain or some such charge?
