The blower is a YellaTerra kit. It doesn't require any upgrades from the stock GM set up. It's basically a straight bolt on kit that uses the stock ECU & MAP.

Sorry but that doesn't sound right at all. The standard MAP sensor cannot read boost at all, it only goes to 1 bar. At minimum you'd need a new map sensor and a tune.

Agree. Minimum would be a re-tune via a new Eeprom or Eprom in the Memcal and a boost ready MAP sensor.

Is this a similar kit to yours? Seems like this one comes with a 2 BAR MAP?

Sort of seems like yeah, you need a 2 BAR MAP sensor in any boosted application.

The 304 has been running just fine for the past 6 years .

The TerraCharger kit doesn't require a MAF change.

The ECU module was reprogrammed by Chiptorque for this application.

I believe they transfered the data from the VR chip (the one for the 355) , done something to accomodate the piddly little blower , & converted it to run in the VN ECU,

Something i noticed yesterday . I let it idle for about 3 mins when it started to stall . I was watching the fuel pressure gauge as it done this & the fuel pressure was dropping as the revs lowered.

Now i'm wondering if the Bosche 44 is dying.

The TerraCharger kit doesn't require a MAF change.

If the primary load sensor is mass air flow rather than speed density, that would make more sense.

... converted it to run in the VN ECU

Have never heard of VN ECU being capable of this though, perhaps it is a VSIII/VT one if you're running MAF?

Sounds like you may be onto something here, if you're seeing a pressure drop at low injector opening times then it's going to be bad when it needs a bit more fuel. Also worth checking the regulator, depending on the flow capabilities it could be bypassing.

Let me try to explain this a little better.

Purple has been running fine for 6 years with no issue. I have been using the stock ECU (albeit the chip has been changed prior to me buying the wreck that the engine came from) . It is basically a VN 304 / T5 from a wrecked VN .

The 355 was fitted to a VR . It also has a hot chip , also from Chiptorque.

The VN / VP ECU is not interchangable with the VR / VS ECU. I believe that even the wiring is different. I know that the plug for the dizzy certainly is different.

I sent the VR chip back to Chiptorque for them to do whatever they do , I expected they would copy the VR chip data onto a VN chip , therefore allowing the engine to run on the same designed chip , but in the earlier ECU.

Also worth checking the regulator,

The fuel regulator is one of those things i have already changed in this process.

Don't know where the supercharger fits into your timeline, but the statement stands: if you're running a MAP-based (speed density) ECU/tune it simply cannot read boost with a standard (1 bar) MAP sensor. Perhaps it already had a 2 bar sensor for some reason.

Yes does take 2 bar map sensor.

Have you checked it for fault codes?

Got fuel pressure guage on it & done compression test to rule out basics?

Well it's running like a rocketship again. ........... but still has a little flat spot. Hmmmm.

Fuel filter element was partially collapsed which was blocking the flow.  All up i probably spent 1hr fixing the issue.

That's after the car being at a local "mechanic" for 6 weeks & him being unable to fix it. That will be $880 thanks.

Chiptorque sent the chip back & it ran sweet.

BTW , i don't recommend Earls fuel components anymore.

Almost ready for Rockynats 4.

Oh ...... boost is controlled by a Microtec.
