Hey Guys,

I was just looking to see if I had a build thread on here, and i don't think i have actually made a proper one before (Must have been on the old forums when they went down).

I've been on these forums now for several years, so seeing some of these pics might bring back some memories!

Now, remember old 253ToranaSS? Well that was me haha! And I use to have that website www.operationtorana.tk Don't bother going to look for it though, it is looooooong gone hahaha!

It'll take me a while to post up all the pics and stuff of my car, but ill start slowly and just keep adding to the story as time goes by!

This was the first ever picture i saw of my car!

Posted Image

I was 16 at the time, and I had been pestering Dad about buying a Torana! I got the trading post every Thursday and looked for Hatchback Torana's! I didnt have much to spend, so when this one popped up for $900, i was WRAPPED!!! Dad checked it out for me after work one night, and discretely took photos of it for me to look at! I literally stared at the photo all night, hoping that someone else wouldnt buy the car and I'd miss out!

I got lucky and managed to go see the car on the weekend, and brought it home!!

Posted Image

and After is Maiden wash!

Posted Image

Overall it was pretty good. It was pretty rusty in the C pillars, but that was the only real spot where there was any real bad rust! There was lots of dents and various crap over the car though, but for me. I thought it was ACE!

This is a shot of the rust.

Posted Image

Dad and I hired a welder from somewhere though, and welded up the C Pillars (6 years later, they are still looking good, only had a couple of bubbles pop up which i fixed during the last build)

Posted Image

Being a young fella, i honestly had no idea what I was doing. My dad had never done up a car either, so it was up to me to go out and research how to do things! So with the help of these forums, i asked lots of questions and learnt most of what i know today off here! I met a bloke by the name of Gary (Guns N Roses), he offered to help me with the painting and stuff, he guided me in the right direction and gave me a rough idea of how to tackle things!

Posted Image

He also talked me into not just building an ok daily driver, but a car that is very cool and be a bit of a head turner! So he talked me into spending all my money (Worked at Macca's part time, so all my pay went into this)

Posted Image

After probably about a year of having the car, i had it ready for paint! So I tarped up the mighty car port, and Gary came over and painted the car for me!

There is a skinny version of me... Proud as punch!

Ok, Thats enough for now! I'll add more later!

Yeah, it was advertised for $950, under the "Wrecking" section in the Trado. I Haggled him down to $900 though. I think he liked me, and liked the fact that a young fella was into Torana's! I got it for Street Class Performance in Hallam. Off Mario i think his name was?

It was 2003 I bought it though... Probably was when Torana's were at their cheapest! LOL

Alrighty,

Well I sold the 202 out of it, to Micklx who put it in his old Torana race car!

Back then, Power to Weight rules meant i was allowed to have a 253 in a Torana on my P's! SWEEEEEET I thought! The V8 Rumble is all i wanted anyway! So i bought my original motor for a Slab of Carton Draught! HAHA! (Off the forums of course!) and had it rebuilt with a mild crow cam, 4 Barrel Manifold and an Electronic dizzy!

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

A rebuilt M21 sat behind it, and it my eyes it was the perfect first car! All my mates loved the car, and thought it was the coolest, fastest car in town!!! LOL (We all know that 253's arent that fast, but it sounded sweet and it was a V8!)

Here is a shot of the car, the day I got it registered!! LOL. I Borrowed these wheels of Stedz_lc as my dragways were apparently too big! LOL.

Posted Image

This was in the first few weeks of getting it on the road! It was the cars first of many photoshoots!

Here's a few more pics!

This is from a photoshoot cruise we had on here a while back.

Posted Image

And here is a picture from the first car show i ever took it to! The Croydon Rod Run night (Pre Knox nights, Pre Boronia )

Posted Image

I changed to silver tail lights, when i got the drop tank... I thought the silver would suit the tank better! and it did! The tank was just a painted tank, but it improved the arse of the car heaps!!

Posted Image

I had the 253 in the car, while i was on my P's for about 18 months... Before i came across the stroker motor!

Have you put a hole in your bonnet now? Or is it still like it was back in those photos?

Started to realise that i didnt have to copy everthing off an SS or SLR for things to look good!

Sometimes, certain colours suit certain combinations better! Bright colours work really well with the Polished headlight surrounds and Silver Grill! So that was what i did next! Haven't looked back since either! It gives the front of the car a really fresh and more stylish look.

Here is another old "photoshoot" of mine!

Ok,

I'll keep going...

I took the car Drag Racing at the first GMH-Torana Drag day... And kinda caught the Drag racing bug! I wanted to go faster, do big skids and have a really good fun car!

So i traded my M21 for a Trimatic with a Hurst Shifter etc... At the same time i also installed a set of Extractors and a better exhaust! This time it was dumped at the diff! VERY NICE!

I was working flat out 4 nights a week at Maccas, whilst studying at uni... So i had a bit of spare coin to spend on the torana!

I also picked up a Polished Alloy drop tank, which was HEAPS better than my Painted one! I bought a 9 inch and also some custom plates!!

First time on the Rollers, This old 2 fluffy tree pulled a very decent number!

Anyway, this is the last cruise i went on before i stripped it down for its latest rebuild.
