Wow Ken, I didn't realise you had all going so early.
You really can outdo yourself sometimes... It's great to see this car coming along.
there were some bits and pieces on that car I had my eyes on.
Might have to come up for another visit sometime soon.
Keep the updates coming, plenty more pictures!

I just wanted the steering wheel/boss kit and the antique gold passenger seat off the other car you have.
Was also keen on the exhaust but had one made up this week to clear the custom crossmember so no matter now.
Looks like it'll be a great little car when done.

Lurking old threads.
What happened to this car? Still working on it Ken? I'm keen to come up and see the new depot and the projects you have lurking around there.
Still keen on that passenger seat, or even more interestingly... Did you happen to acquire those front sports seats with torana rails that James had with that car? Interested in upgrading the interior for more comfort.

I have done some more, motor, gearbox, lights, doors back on with fittings, brakes, bonnet hinges, heater box
will post more pics when I get time
got the seats organised, out of LJ from the farm, heaps of other parts as well
so many little bits to clean/repair/tidy up, I would hate to have one car and no donors,
parts of at least 4 cars so far to get good bits
having issues with a hood lining I bought on line holding me up,saps my interest
seller said it was copy of an original but it doesn't fit (short- front to back), I measured it against an original, he says I'm not an experienced fitter,
I got couple of sets of seats from James but don't think either had Torana rails, will check though
call if you are heading up the hill some time

Certainly will Ken, might wanna hide some fo your donors as I've been living on the forums as of late (been home sick with waaaaay too much time) and I'm itching to get this and that done to my car and have the feeling that I'll be wanting to raid alot more of your spare parts.
Yeah, check those rails when you get a chance as I think James told me that those seats were modified for torana when I was looking at buying the car.

Another hold up today,
thought I would finish fitting gearbox (had to over haul the shifter, held me up ) then start on other underneath bits
not likely, there are 4 tapped holes in the chasis rails missing, appear in 70 on models for trimatic/3 spd trans,
so there is nowhere to bolt up the m20 cross member, original was opel
so I hope the heavy metal plate that is fitted inside the rail with the threaded holes extends back as far as the in later models to allow me to drill and tap the mounting holes I need
may drill pilot holes tomorrow

Gee, sounds like alot of fun ken, NOT. I remember muckiong around trying to make custom crossmembers etc, gave up and bought a dellow one, and it still resulted in another week of mucking around, now you're back on here James, Maybe you could fill s in on those 'sports' seats. are they on torana rails?

I welded up about a dozen 3/8th holes in the floorpan in the seat mounting area so I would say people just drilled holes in the floor to fit diff seats and didn't use original mounts
fitted the crossmember today, front holes drilled and tapped into the reinforced section but back ones through chasis and floor with bolt and crush tube same as towbar system,

That is a brilliant colour....Is it Salamanca Red?

I keep thinking I'll do mine in a red but shying away because everyone does red but I don't really care anymore cause it looks awesome....

Look forward to seeing the finished product.

don't know the colour as it was partly painted when I bought it, local paint guy I use for work cars went through about 50 reds and thought it was a ford colour,
I took the boot lid to a paint supplier, they polished it and matched the colour in 2 pak.
bloody good match and comes up good straight from the gun, haven't cut and polished yet

more fun,
rh handbrake cable siezed
crack in outer tube of steering column
thread stripped on carby for needle and seat
don't you love people who grind back inlet manifold tabs to fit extractors?
built them up to suit GTR headers
will add to list when I take more pics

getting closer, might get on a cruise soon
fired it up last week and drove around carpark
problem with brakes though, rear cylinders siezed and when I took them out they were for drum front end so who ever fitted disks on front didn't change the back
the hood lining was a bugger to fit, bought it off feebay and was too short so had a trimmer measure and replace one panel, he added 20mm but I reckon it should have been 30mm
had to heat it up and stretch and stretch and stretch
front screen in, will do back tomorrow
starting to look like a car
