Hey guys

I have been lurking around this forum for a while now not contributing much so i thought it was time to make a thread for my car. While its still in the build im hoping it will be finished by jan 2010 to enter it into motorvation. I will update the thread when ever i get some spare time.

Anyways i had a white and black 4 door for my first car which i built with my dad. With a 202 and trimatic it did the good for a few years and only owed me $2500 its always good when your dad knows ppl in the industry and your step mum works for an auto paint shop. Sure it was no show car but it turned some head.

Eventually i got a job that paid good money so the hunt was on for a hatch. But was a hard to look for a hatch in perth when you have moved to melb for 2 years for work. I looked at a few in melb but i couldnt find what i was looking for. So i put my dad on the case and within 2 weeks he had found what i was looking for. I bought the car sight unseen from a family friend for a decent price.

The best thing was the car come with a full set of genuine holden spare panels expect the bonnet, even better the car was in that good of a cond i didnt even need to use them :D . The car was orignally from queensland my uncle had bought it from ebay about 3 years ago. All i know about it is that is was in the same family for the whole time and only got sold because the old guy died and the son who got given it wanted to do un heard of things to did :fool: . Does anyone reckonise it????

The car has advanced alot from those pictures but i cant be bothered typing anything else at the moment maybe tonight

Cheers ayden

homer the wheels on the back are only 17x10 wish i had gone a little bigger now i might end up buying some bigger ones and putting thoses ones on my girlfriends escort.

Mello92 the brakes are just the 290mm kit from hoppers once again i should have gone for the 330mm aw well things happen

Now back to the story. The car sat in my dads shed till mid last year when i returned from melb i finially decided to rebuild it i coped alot from modifing it rather than leaving it orignal. After trying to find a decent panel beater and painter i ended up going with Dave Cleary the owner of the green blown ls2 hatchback. Here are some progress pics from that.

The only rust i could find was pretty bad though just bought a replacement panel

Great job on the guards i think

All in all i couldnt be happier with choosing dave for panel and paint and the amount of other things he has helped me with. top bloke

Thats it for now enjoy

Nice cars mate. :spoton: I also noticed the alignment on the rear flare (that said I would have been happy with that as a first car!).
New paint on the Hatch looks great, be good to see those pics when they come.

That thing around your uncles A9X is a 'carcoon', right?

yeah its a carcoon mate pretty cool things i think.

Motor has been dropped in and the gearbox is in not without alot of things going wrong with it.
like the gearbox guy trying to push the wrong stall on to the box, wrong mounts and a lx 308 high volume sump (brand is 3 letters all i can remember is the first is an A??) that was hitting on the front end. :fool:
That was the biggest piss off considering it was an $300 roughly sump all painted up nicely in 2 pac then it had to be cut and rewelded and repainted. Its an expensive sump now :<_<: .

I will get some pictures doing the week when i go and see it

Is anyone elses car in perth entering in motorvation this year coming?

cheers ayden

Today im off to see the car as the motor and box has been dropped in during the week so i will get some more pictures.
Heres some more of the car with some paint on it
Posted Image
Posted Image
Posted Image

As you can tell from the pictures the car looks alot different depending on the light and angle. Its still yet to be buffed or for me to see it in direct sunlight should come out pretty good.

The brake setup is just 290mm hoppers kit up front
Posted Image
And 300mm single piston at the rears dont have any pictures of the rears together yet. Should stop fast enough now.
Posted Image

Some other random stuff.
Hahaha the manifold took my hours to sand done before sending it to the ceramic coaters. And i mean hours come up a treat though

cheers

nice work.

how much did the steering wheel set you back if you dont mind?

Ive wanted a billet wheel for the LJ for years, but they always seem to want a fortune for the decent lookers and bugger all for the shitty looking ones!
