Full weight V8 Toranas are about 1250-1400 depending on what motor, diff, gearbox etc are in them.

Hire places typically will not allow you to tow a car trailer with a commodore.

Towing is easier with a lighter trailer but they won't take as much abuse. Buy a good one and don't loan it out !!!

So I was pushing the limit of 999kg unbraked
But yes servo trailers are heavy and would actually put you over the limit with a Torana on the back
If your going to get a proper one made... nice and light.. you will be OK with your 2100bar
Don't get caught overloaded...I got stopped with mine once and weighed by transport inspectors
Fine is E-fricking-normous
Luckily mine was just under the limit

Just getting your cash
If thats right... the Kennard trailer is 800kg... then the most you could put on it would be 1300kg... You might just scrape it in
And thats your towbars maximum load rating..... can you get a bigger bar for it ?
Thats a heavy ass trailer too !!
The capacity of the towing apparatus fitted to the vehicle, or
A relevant maximum trailer mass specified by the vehicle manufacturer.
Put simply, the most you can tow is the amount specified by the vehicle manufacturer of the capacity of the towbar - WHICH EVER IS LEAST.
If you want to know how much your vehicle can tow, firstly check the owners manual or vehicle sales brochure for the manufacturers towing recommendations. Secondly make sure that the towing capacity is as least as much, if not more, than the mass of the trailer, including its load. If you are unsure how strong the towbar is, have a chat to a reputable towing equipment specialist.
In the case where a motor vehicle manufacturer has not specified a maximum towing mass, the limit is stated to be:
1.5 times the unladen or herb mass of the motor vehicle if the trailer is fitted with brakes;

Other problem is single axle braked trailers are only allowed to have a GVM of 2000kg regardless of what's towing them. So you need brakes on both axles with a break-away braking system on them to be allowed to exceed 2000kg, basically electric brakes on all 4 x wheels with an onboard battery and break-away wire.

Just make sure it's less than 2000kg unless you have 4 wheel electric brakes and a battery on the trailer for breakaway controller and an electric brake controller on your Calais..
thanks for the advice yel once i get my own car trailer which i hope is soon i'll be adding that stuff to my calais and trailer after all i dont wanna end up with no car's i'd rather make sure the calais and the torana are safe
