XU1 alternator was only ever rated at 35 amp.

Why would GMH have 2 x 35a alternators for 6cyl’s according to the parts book? doesn’t make sense...

XU1 alt has larger pulley to the std 6cyl alt so there's two differing units with their own unique part numbers. Add to that they used Lucas and Bosch alternators plus there were alt's with internal regulators and alt's that used external regs.

That's a few more than only two 35amp alternators.

Have a look at any published specs for the XU1's. The alternator is rated at 35 amps.

Possibly, at least for 9/72 ish Xu1 brisbane anyway.

I respectfully disagree with what John said. No XU1 ever came ex factory with a 40 amp alternator.
