You can put volvo rims on to torries (there may be two kinds of volvo stud patterns I believe)..

Speak to lc boi, he has volvo rims on his lj

The volvo rims in question are 15" steelies iirc, and don't look too bad. A cheap way to get 15" under a torry.

I believe the unofficial name for the torana stud pattern is called " early holden ", as the EJ-H, HK-G, and torana's share the same bolt pattern, but i'm not sure about the offset.

I can say this with certinty, as i have steel EH 13" rims, steel 13" LH rims, repro steel HK 14x6" rims and some alloy 14x7" that come from a HG and were on my torana. I've had no issues with rim & tyre clearance with the steelies, only had tyre issues with the 14's on the front, if it was wearing bigger than a 195/65 i would get rubbing on the front edge of the arch. Lowering probably wasn't helping that either. Never had issues with rim hitting any suspension parts. If offset is differant, it can't be by much.

I have heard their is a 5stud astra rim that fits the torana pattern, no idea if it does tho. Anyone know anything about this?

Cheers

Chopper has been very quiet, maybe he'd tell you to get some CHEAP Ferrari wheels & get some dodgy spacers to get the offsets correct.Where are you Chop?

the astra rims are .05mm out for the PCD. Not enough to worry about. Offset is different to torrie but I cant give you any more info than that

volvo rims are out by the same 0.05 mm, but they're fine

i have 14X6 volvo rims from a 1984 240gl on my LH and the offset is fine.
track is slightly smaller with these rims, but still legal

Hi Guys.

The official GM-H figure for Torana PCD (except HB/LC/LJ/TA 4 cyl) is 4.24 ", not 4.25".

Have to take what Dr Terry says as Gospel, torana pcd = 4.24in.
That makes the distance between centre of adjacent studs = 63.30mm.

Some prick stole my user-name and I've only gotten it back properly today.

Dr Terry said that official GMH figures said the Torana pattern is 5x4.24". All aftermarket wheel manufacturers state the stud pattern as 5x4.25". They will also tell you they got that figure from GMH. Ask any tyre shop and they would also tell you it's 5x4.25".

Dr Terry and myself agreed a while ago that there are two sets of figures going around. I accept he uses the figure he stated and I understand his reasoning. I stand by the figure of 5x4.25", but accept it may not be correct.

We both also agree that obviously somewhere along the line an error was made and we may never find out the real truth behind it. And after 45 years, it really doesn't matter anyway. Torana wheels will still fit Toranas, no matter what the actual stud pattern is.

I will not be entering into any debate about this, as it was done a few times on the phpBB. No point flogging this dead horse again, it still won't move.

Anyway, common wheels that fit Toranas are HK, HT, HG and Volvo. 144 and 244 series are the cheapest. If you want 15"+ alloys, look for 760 series. 17" are easily found. Just avoid the 4 stud Volvo rims and the front wheel drive Volvo rims will probably foul on the top control arm.

Hey chop do you think that the 17's off a Volvo 97 850R will fit on a Lh 4 door, would the offset on these be better or worse than commodore offset??

A 97 Ovlov would almost certainly be FWD. Most FWD offsets are around +45. If they were 7" wide and no more than +35 they would probably fit. No guarentees of course. It's always best to do a fitment test if possible before expensive purchases.

If they are 5 stud, they are 5/4.25".
If they are 4 stud, they are 4/4.00".
