The Pimms black full chassis turbo LJ from Gladstone ran 9.1s @ 142mph before rolling at the Winternats this year. Its currently being rebuilt.
cheers
Scott

ooooooooooooooo.............. and the plot THICKENS hehehehehe.

thanks mate got any spec on the car?

Seen that car in the flesh a few times, never saw it run a 9.1 i dunno where that came from??? It was low 10 everytime i saw it run at the strip.

Very basic setup on the engine, wouldent be to hard to get more horsepower me thinks.

As i said Bing i think your going the wrong way with the blower though....

Now i have a question out of curiosity, whats the fastest standard suspensioned (ie no tubs, no full chassis, no half chassis, no parallel four link, no coil overs, etc) Holden six powered sedan???

Cheers.

I wish I knew what happened to my LC Torana from around 1985. It was powered by a stink hot 186 and was the fastest n/a 6 in the Sydney area as far as I knew and was told.

The trouble was Castlreigh had closed and Sydney never had a drag strip so we used to race drag race on the main straight of Oran Park. Doeas anyone remember this as the actual date for me is a bit sketchy but possibly 1985 or a year either side.

Anyway this 186 was so fast that I was told by inside sources that the Ford GT owners club put a ban on racing it as it was embarrassing there much more powerful falcoons. I come up against all sorts of cars. Even the guy at Mt Druitt Aussie Tune couldn't believe the HP figures and he said its putting out more HP than his race car XU-1 and he had tried all types of motors including ford crank.

I lived near Blacktown and it was a legend among the people in the area.

So if someone bought a 4-door Red with black Trim LC Torana that had full racing harness for its race style front seats, lowered on original XU-1 Globe wheels and NCT tires running a very noisy 186 with a cast ally rocker cover and big brake booster, M21, 3.08:1 LSD and it couldn't idle under 1200rpm (1400rpm was its idle) it may well be the car. It was registered to my old business.

It would probably still be the quickest n/a 186 around

I feel that in the field your searching in, no one will be able to tell you.
Theres just not that many quick holden 6 race cars or fast street cars much anymore.

cheers

Well I would like to know this and include N/A
My 13.1@103mph was running stock Torana running gear and an open Banjo diff with 205x60x14's.
I had a 186 LC with stock gear a few years back that could run 12.9 but can't prove this claim. I'm sure there must be some quick ones

My current LC car is still untubbed and is stock apart from the Hilux diff but uses the same suspension mounts and I hope to go faster on the 30th.

pity there is no way of measuring the mud pit hp cos alot of them have outragous hp figures and rpm readouts hehe.

seriously though, from what i have seen if one of the proper nc type cars raced at the strip they would be fastest by far.
but the fastest one would definatly have roller cam and that sort of fruit.i think alot of the old timers go alot faster now they they eva actually did.

The OP was talking about full/half chassis cars with tubbs.

Im talking standard rear suspension pickups, diff swaps different springs/shocks etc are allowed.

Quickest i have seen is low 10's...

Cheers.

Mention whatever you know, with its particular details (rego, fuel type, suspension/chassis type, tyre type, exhaust type), categorise/analyse later.

I wanna know more about Harrop's Howler, because I've been in contact with the guy who built the motor for it :o

Hydrazine!
the car and motor wouldve been a nothing without it.
i have maybe 40 pages of documentary on the car and the times would be forever unstable, he would go out and run 12.5, 12.5 and then 13.4's in the same meeting, we are guessing that the 13.4's are on metho or petrol, not his jungle juice....
i reckon that Jim Rowleys DUEL was more impressive.

ill get my finger out and try and figure out how to use the scanner and post some of the doc's up.

Heath, youve met Ron Harrop?

I'd love to know more about the engine in Duel.

Can't remember what times it ran but geez it launched hard and could pick the wheels up in the first three gears.
