Feeling a bit left out by people's obsession with a Pink XU-1 register, thought I would start my own... who knows, might end up being a rarer colour !!! I'll start the ball rolling:

Date: 9/72

VIN: 82911JL215996

I know of a 10/1972 and a 5/1972 Brisbane Built LJ XU-1 in Chateau Mauve Met
The 10/1972 was in NSW and the 5/1972 was in Wollongong NSW

And two LJ GTR's in Chateau Mauve Met
One sold from Motors Hobart brand new and the ADR Plate is 3/1972 but Car was Built on the7/4/1972
I say due to Easter Break Holidays or a oversight on this Adelaide built GTR with the ADR Plate, but the Flutes were molded into the front guards,Car still in Tassy.

And the other Adelaide Built GTR was a 4/1972 LJ GTR
Chateau Mauve Met.

Mine is 2/73 8D11PCH266611J.I'm the 2nd owner since 1977.Its always been a NSW car.Up until the nineties when I started attending shows I had only ever seen 1 Chateau Mauve Xu-1 besides mine.I was on my honeymoon in 1979 driving to Brisbane when we stopped at Coffs Harbour the only parking spot in the street was behind a chateau Mauve xu-1, I couldnt believe it.I'm in the process Of respraying the car and have been warned that some of the interpretations of the original colour by some paint manufacturers leaves a lot to be desired.I spoke to a guy at the Summer nats in the PPG display who told me that they alone have the original dulux tinters and recipe.Ill see how I go.So how many have we got so far? There must be only a handful, time will tell.Check out the original colour in the photo in 1982 when Old parliament house was stiil running and you could drive an xu-1 up the front doorCheersxu1997

Don't forget this one

The bonnet never gets lifted and the owner is friends of a well known NSW-based molesterer of 2-door LCs/LJs but I'll vouch for it anyway. Sorry, no numbers available.

D'oh, I guess you're right :surrenderwave: Apologies to all involved...Chateau Mauve...Orchid Met...Strike me Pink...it's all the same to me - I only know the 4 original XU-1 colours, barely. But to quote the Great Gong "...the other is a girls colour..." or words to that effect. Jokes people, just jokes!

In my (much) younger years I had the great pleasure of owning an LJ XU1 which started life as Chateau Mauve but was then repainted at a very early stage (in the original owner's ownership) in Chrome Yellow.

The original owner was a Dr G. Alchin who was the course doctor at Amaroo and Oran Parks here in Sydney. Apparently he changed his mind about Chateau Mauve and went totally the other direction!

This car was delivered new by Allan Mason Holden Kirrawee.

Can't remember the compliance date, possibly May or June 72, but the engine no. was JP172247.

Second owner was a mate of mine who worked for Allan Grice on his race team. He bought an HJ Sandman van and had the Torana for sale. It wasn't long 'til it was in my driveway! I'm talking 1977, so it was only 5 years old at the time. Had a half Bond cage and the obligatory Sprintmasters. Excellent job on the colour change, very hard to pick if you didn't know the paint code! Fantastic car, many happy memories. Love to know if it's still around?

Hi

I am not sure that 015 can be believed because the zone is given as "1" which is Qld. I can find no other cars sold by 015 at all. I think the data input operator was having a bad day because there is a "D" instead of a "P" in the engine number and a "C" instead of an "E" for the differential type.

Cheers

Gday Bazza,

My numbers were sent to you a while back by Daryl This is the car that has the wrong ADR plate on it not sure if you remember it or not.

the only other info i have been able to obtain was from Ian at Rare spares. He is the one that gave me the engine number and dealer code.

Any other info you could give me would be great I know that it has a later block in it and the ADR plate is off a 4 cyl Lj 73

If you need any other numbers I will give them to you.

Thanks once again for shedding some light on my car as we were not sure on what we had. We have a bit more of an idea now.

Cheers Brett.
