Trying to find out where Fred James lived in Melbourne in 1973-1974
Fred retired from Holden in 1977,but still had Contact with GMH after retirement
He retired to Phillip Island in 1977 untill he passed on in 2007.
I believe he might of lived in Frankston in 73-74,trying to find out,so if any one can help, maybe Dr. Terry might know.

I read a story about F.J in a pointers magazine. From memory I think he spent the early 70s in the USA before returning.

Fred James did the XU1 Engine's and XW7 Engines and the L34 Engines
Ian Tate called him the Godfarther on the XU1 and L34 Engine, Fred was the Man that designed the 253 V8 and the 308 V8 in 1969 and was there in the Early 1970's, he retired in 1977.
He was there arrimar, No Doubt.

Joe Felice
Said Fred James used to go To Harry's HDT Workshop after working hours and on weekends in his own time working on XU1 Engines and the XW7 Engines and L34 Engines to help out HDT and he was the Engine Boss at Experimental Engineering.
If it was not for Fred James we would not have the XU1 and XW7 and L34 Engines and the 253 and 308 V8's.
RIP Fred James you Engine Guru.

So probably the "man" on RD001?
Fred James was the Head Guru Engine Engineer and Chief of Engines at Experimental Engineering and Designed the 253 V8 that went into RD001, so you would think he would of been involved in RD001.
