I thought I would start this off as GTR's with red on black was one of the most common of the colour combinations, but through attrition I don't think there are that many left. There are a few XU1's, but not many GTR's

I have a 7/72 GTR Salamanca red on black. I think it is the last one left of the 72's and know of a 73 in my club, but that's about it as most of the other ones are resprays to get away from some of the 70's specials.

Hi Warren that's a great car you have. Look after it as it's rare! Bazza will verify the numbers and it will go in the register. Hope you're in a club as a car like that deserves to be.

Posted ImagePosted ImageHi everyone
I have a 73 Salamanca GTR . I purchased it about 4 months ago but have just got it regestered . It was last registered in NSW and was owned by a forum member at some stage . I looked for a long time for a good matching number GTR so was very happy when Bazza confirmed the numbers on this one for me . It is still running the original block but the engine has been built to something like XU1 spec ( i have very little detail of the spec but jesus it goes good ) . It has up graded brakes , high volume sump and is running 1.5" SU triples . The interior is ok though the carpet is a bit shaby around the hand brake and the bottoms of the doors and the fronts of the seats are black velour which i dont think is original . I have some 13x6 CSA sprints but i have fitted a set of 13x7 steel GTR wheels with the chrome trim because i think it looks more "old skool cool" and lets face it its not an XU1 so why make it look like one .
Love the 13138
Jezza

my dad owned one in the year 2000, bought it for $3800 in 99 i think. was very rough, fully restored it and sold it for around 10 grand, now look whose kickin himself bigtime, but at the time they were worth more money with a 6 and this was way before the boom. i believe the owner was recently offered 80 grand for it during the price rise. it was a genuine LJ XU1 one of the first registered V8s too from 84 i believe. salamanca red from what i believed... wonder if anyone in SA has seen this car since, i believe the rego changed to V8 XU1 or sumthing along those lines..
