roller lifters

hey i was just wondering if anyone has roller lifters in their 202. i wanted to put them in the engine i just built but was informed that you cant get roller lifter for a holden 6 but i find that hard to believe since my flat solid lifters where from either a 308 or some chev v8 which makes me ask the question why cant you put the roller lifters from them into a 202?? probebly a stupid post butim just thinking about it...

Greg ( 82911 ) runs a roller cam in one of his 202's, so they are available.

My mate with the injected Honda headed 202 just picked up 60hp (at 700rpm earlier) by changing to a roller from a very big solid grind cam. Now looking at 270hp at the back wheels normally aspirated.

But you won't get change from $1000 for a roller cam and lifters for a Holden 6, would you?

He likes to use the term Honda headed 202 instead of Ford headed 202. Basically, the Ford head is bolted on back to front ( just to show how retarded Ford is ), bit of welding and away you go. JZED head sounds like a better option to me.

thats quite an interesting bit of engineering there fair bit more horse power than my little 202! i just want 240 at the flywheel.
still wish i hadent stoped looking around for a roller cam after chris mills told me i couldnt get one. o well.

I think it's an XE head, but it would be best to wait for Howard to confirm.

stupid me, it has to be earlier than EA, thats when they went to OHC I think.

I've heard of people using ford ohc heads as well.

Obviously it's not a bolt on job, otherwise everybody would've beed doing it for the last 25 years. Weld up this, drill out that. If you want a good alloy head, use a JZED.

The mods to the Ford head wouldn't be free. The JZED head can make 7.7 second passes, you think the Ford head can run better?

If you get a quote, let is know. In the mean time, YT make new turbo 12 port heads for the Holden 6. Allow $1200.

can't go fast with no money, unless you steal it :D Buy the head, going to put it on a $1000 bottom end? Are these Jzed heads, casted or a machined ford head?

Jzed heads appear to be ok but at $4000+ its a lot of money.

The $4K figure includes a custom alloy rocker cover to clear any rocker setup It also includes the EFI manifold and butterflies. Effectively you are paying around $2K for the head, or $800 more than a stock cast iron new YT 12 port head.

Colin, the JZED head is cast from scratch, it isn't a modified head.

Howard, for what you are likely to pay for a Ford head and the modifications at todays prices, I would rather get something new off the shelf that has a proven 7.7 second capability. If you can successfully demonstrate to me that a modified Ford head would go quicker, then I would be interested.

That 7.7 second capability no doubt included a lot of other bullet proof (= $$'s) hardware so any comparison would need to be apples-to-apples. Bolting any head on a 202 isnt going give 7.7 seconds.

The Honda head conversion has proved to be reliable and low maintenance over more than 7.7 seconds......

The sports sedan running this combo can be seen at Sandown next weekend.

They will be in garage 27 and its races are at 10.00am and 2.00pm on Saturday and Sunday respectively.

There will also be a detailed article soon in Racer Australia magazine.

How much does the "Honda" head cost? As in, I hand over the cash and get a complete head ready to bolt on?
