Dave
it maybe 2815922 will clean up the manifold a bit more see if your right.
i have two original manifolds one is stamped HOLDEN the other has GMH on it is one early xu1 and the other later maybe.

I don't know when the change came about with the branding but I assume the GMH branded manifold is the earlier one and the holden branded one is later. LJ Xu1 manifolds that I have seen all had holden on them. I remember that my dads' FC grey motor single carb manifold was branded GMH.
Hopefully someone else out there might have factual info on this change.
Dave.

Still trying to find info on these carbys the 128D strombergs has any one come across these before cheers G.
hey Glacier
ebay item 120537912553 are a nice set of 150s sitting on $1060 with 23 hours to go
i emailed this dude and he states the carbs are 128A, 128B and 128D so thats the second
one i have seen in a week(including yours)considering that all xu-1 stamped carbs(LC/LJ)
can only be found in australia only, i wonder if the 128d is a australian only carb as well
are there any visible difference on the carb bodies??? eg extra screws??
i think more research is needed here
cheers johnno

Looked up my stromberg book, the tag number 3161 was allocated to the 1967/1971 Singer Gazelle 1500cc and 1725cc CI head
with 150CDS carb.
Hope this helps,
Dave

It appears the Singer Gazelle ran a single 150CDS Stromberg with 6Q needle, .090 jet and red coded air valve spring.
The Gazelle was an upmarket Hillman Minx. Have since found the Minx had the exact same carb and tag number. I am assuming the Gazelle and/or the Minx was exported to OZ but don't know for sure.
Do the 128a & 128b XU1 carbs look identical and I mean identical to the 128d carb or are there any differences no matter how small. Also which manifold are the 128d's on, the one branded GMH or Holden. Another suggestion is remove the float bowl from a 128a and a 128d carb and see what the production year number and month clock can tell you. You will find it in the fuel bowl area of the carby body.
I am guessing (very wild at that) maybe the first ever batch of 150CDS carbs for the LC XU1 that Zenith supplied were the 128d's and they just changed the needles, springs, throttle arms etc to suit the XU1.
Looking at the book it appears that every individual combination of carby body, needle, jet, air valve spring etc etc was allocated a different tag number and possibly a different code stamped into the air cleaner mounting flange (my book doesn't give those codes).
Cheers
Dave.

all carbs stamped 128 on the air filter face
brass tags (1 missing)
first reads 3257 035 and has a big A stamped into it
second tag 3257 028 and again with a big A
mines a 10 71 car and would i be surprised if these were not the originals, but admit to not knowing much about carb numbers.

The brass tag coded 3163F is for the front carb of a twin 150CDS carb set up for a 1967/1971 Humber Sceptre 1725cc.
The tag from the rear carb would be coded 3163R.
1970/71 LC XU1 carb tags should be coded either 3380 or 3381.

3257 is the code for Vauxhaull Viva 1159cc engine.

Sorry if I caused you some stress.
The carby info I provided was quoted from my CD Stromberg repair manual.
Obviously the book is not perfectly correct.
