I've not seen the steering wheels so cant comment.

I don't know if they have revised the mirrors....but I reckon they aren't even close...I own 1 original and 1 copy and cant use them as a pair...the mounting stems are different, the shells are different and the mirror is thinner on the copy.

well you would normally replace as a pair anyhow wouldn't you? You guys have to realise this is the only company making parts and i cant see that changing in the future either. Unless it is a L34 or A9X I cant see any problem with a little difference.

I have one orig on drivers side and added a copy on passenger side. There was no previous mirror there so no issue with screw holes not lining up.

Apart from the glossy look on the new one you wouldn't spot the difference from 10 paces.

I'm pretty happy with it.

I'm talking the lines that are cast into the mounting....the original is smoothe...If I could find them I will a) take a pic and B) sell the bloody things....I know I didn't buy them new but I was a bit disappointed with them...and like I said they might have revised them by now.

LJ-UC is the same, and common with the full sized Holdens and early Commodores.

I bought a drivers side Rare Spares GTS style mirror for my hatchback. Rapt with the quality of it. I'm not fussed about the nitty gritty comparison to original stuff, as this replaced a stock mirror.

I have an original pair of SLR/GTS sports mirrors & i bought a Rares one for my LJ. Only difference i noticed was the original mirrors have a small counter sunk phillips blade screw to mount the mirror base to the mounting plate that screws onto the door where as the Rares one had a small allen key screw that protruded slightly from the mirror base once attached. Other than that i didn't notice any other difference. As for the steering wheels, i haven't seen a Rares one other than on display in their store, but if i couldn't locate a good reasonably priced original i wouldn't have any problem using a Rare Spares repro on any of my cars.

For what they are and given the prices Rares charge, I think they are bloody good. Yes the wheel is a bit different and the mirrors might not be 100% spot on, but, they are great nonetheless. Thank goodness for Rare Spares. Buy wit5h confidence I say. R

Had a steering wheel in the past and it was far from matching the original but you couldn't spot that from 10 feet and it was very nice anyway. Only issue was that the one I had was brown underneath and it didn't take a particularly long time to start wearing through the black on the rim (I did drive it a lot though)

The spokes and horn caps of the rare spares wheel are fine, the hubs on some colors are actually old gm stock anyway.

The rims aren't quite the same, they may even wear better.

One key difference that makes them look poor is the sprayed on finish on the area on the "boss" fixing point, on the originals it is actually a vinyl sleeve in the color of the wheel.

I have the mirrors and I think they are fantastic! The only flaw I can speak of is that they are hard to keep tight. Quality is very good :)

I have the same problem, slam the door enough times and they flop, so annoying when it happens during driving, you fear the thing is going to fall off.

in regards to the steering wheels some of you may be aware and some of you may not be but we are about to re release these wheels soon.

we have totally started from scratch using an original NOS wheel aswell as a few used originals which were cut up etc, a few independant people in the know have seen one of the samples which wasnt 100% finished at the time but were quite impressed with it, once there done we are expecting these to be 100% correct, we are also organising ADR compliancing too

the only possible downside for some people is that we are not allowed to remanufacture the early thick spoke wheels so they will all be the later model thin spoke's

Les that is a great copy of the HK GTS steering wheel, and i must say the hood lining for my HK monaro that RSP have repro,d, looks to me to be perfect.I held the grain close to my oridginal, and couldn,t pick the difference, and i,m very fussy.

I,d love a close up shot of the grain on the steering wheel, and the price is great IMO.
