Is it going to be the right texture eg Roebuck texture for the LC and early LJs
Cheers Dave
Hi Dave
see the picture below that shows the three different grains of pinchweld that were used in the Toranas.
Over the past few weeks I have looked at many Toranas, etc to see exactly what pinchweld is in what car. I was fortunate to spend a couple of hours at Classic Oz Wreck (thanks Greg
) where I went through the cars and grabbed samples and cataloued the trim codes for the samples. At this stage I have some 12 different sample from HB - UC.
In the picture, from top to bottom, the grains, and what they suit are as follows;
Type 1: HB Torana and HK-T-G. Interestingly I found the a couple of HG's with the Type 2 pinchweld..
Type 2: LC-UC Torana and HJ-HZ. This is the one that we are currently doing.
Type 3: UC Torana and HZ & VB. There was no real deliniation as to when they started using this grain in UC and HX cars. I came across late production cars with the Type 2 in as well..
I can assure you that the black pinchweld in the LC/LJ XU1's is the same "black" as the LH-LX, etc. There was no change in the shade of "Black"
I hope that answers your questions..
RTSGUY
with regards to a grey, I may do that in the future and if there is enough call from motor trimmers, etc I will look at other "non standard" colours.
I have been approached about doing white, of all things..
cheers
