I think i need a different throwout bearing for my cable clutch setup the kit i have is to suit uc torana pull type clutch the new bearing in the kit is the same as the old one that came with the bellhousing and clutch fork only problem is the bearing doesnt sit firm in the fork has about 5mm gap on each side i think i need a bearing from a early commodore or maybe wb or will it be fine to run with this bearing

cheers dennis

Had this drama myself, once someone that knew pointed out the bearing in the clutch kit I purchased was for a push type not pull the problem was fixed with a simple trip to ABS, a plstic type bearing was supplied and no drama. That bearing looks like the original one I had and just couldn't get the adjustment right.

ummm.... Does that fork have provision for the 2 little rubber bushes that locate the bearing carrier ?
Are they missing ?

But yes they are a different clutch depending on rat trap vs cable

Im pretty sure that the carrier is wrong i had a look at a spare box i had which has a rat trap setup bellhousing and fork and the carrier and bearing are the same as what was with the cable bellhousing and fork dosent have any rubber bushes...in saying that i have no idea what they look like has wear marks on the fork where the bearing has being rubbing maybe a trip to abs as diggman did might solve the problem

Although the bearings look totally different there is a small difference in how they sit in the fork.
You can get a press on bearing to suit if you have the carrier.
Stuff ups are really the only way to learn!!!

Did ABS supply you with a carrier and bearing to suit the cable pull type setup?

I have the middle type bearing i did some measurements with it installed on the fork in the box and it sits at the same distance from the end of the input shaft as the other two plus its the only one that fits the fork properly i guess i will just have to see how it goes when its all in the car :)
