Does anyone know the where about's of the Janson / Brock A9X from 1978, The last i heard it was for sale in unique cars approx 1998 to 2002 and sold to someone in NSW. If some of you don't remember this car was very badley smashed in practise by (splitpin) Phillip Brock at bathurst 1978. If someone has any old copies could they check, it was a smaller 1/4 page add and the car was painted yellow. Would like to find this one.

Thank's for your help 830, I think the one your thinking off is the janson / perkins 1977 owned by a bloke rob H????, The other is the 1979 a9x, This janson / brock 1978 was apprently written off but was rebuilt and was for sale. Has anyone got any or all the old unique car mags from 1998 to 2002.

The above Yellow car was restored by Rob Hands and sold over to NZ. Just like another Hatch that is for sale. He then bought it back and it was at the Muscle Car Masters restored. It is not our Absinth Yellow A9X.

It's actually Chrome Yellow, according to the former Kiwi owner.

I think the 78 and 77 cars are one in the same as far as this car goes, yes I know Janson had 3, but I believe the car was missadvertised at some stage.

The Rogers car is in Sydney, I've seen it at Oran Park, Eastern Creek and at Bathurst for Torana the Great.

From what I've heard, the 78 car was crashed heavily in practice for the 1000. It was "rebuilt overnight" (replaced by the 77 car) and ran for about 130 laps on Sunday.

I don't know what happened to the 78 car then. I've got a photo of the 78 car after the crash and it is really badly bent.

The above car pictured by Datto was for sale September last year.

I still have the email from the owner and i quote - "My car is the ex 1978 Peter Janson Phil Brock Bathurst car, built brand new for Bathurst but crashed in practice by Brock and did not start the race. It is the sister car to the one you have in Perth.
It is not in as raced condition, it is restored back to original condition so imagine you could go back to 1977 and buy a brand new GMP&A A9X from new painted in chrome yellow (Jansons race color) fitted with L34 spec engine and Hotwire wheels.
It is very very similar to the car in the latest Street Machine mag but has original fuel tank not drop tank. Car has traveled 13,000 km on NZ roads since being restored by Robert Hands in Melbourne. It is in immaculate condition, with group C style exhaust, and black trim. You would not find a better road car, but if you are looking for a turn key race car its not for you."

Negotiations broke down following a lack of supporting evidence.

I had a call from a guy looking at a car that sounded very much like it could have been the car that was raced at Bathurst in 78, so that would make it the 77 car as well as the new 78 car was crashed in practice. Anyway the tag said it was chrome yellow and the log books mentioned Janson among other names. The owner was selling it, but I believe he decided not to. It was pretty much as last raced but in different colours
