LH's had Torana 1900's, not Sunbird's and these were fitted with the Opel 4 cylinder engine.

LX's had Sunbirds and these were fitted with the Opel 4 cylinder engine as well.

UC's had Sunbirds initially fitted with the Opel engine then they "upgraded" to the Starfire later in the production run.. Not sure of the date, but I will find out..

cheers

Starfire engines were introduced in Sept 1978.

Mine has the Starfire in her.

Here is a pic of her at Toranafest..

No worries.
I've got nearly the same pic of yours as that, but from the other side.

Hi All,

Firstly just been looking at the ToranaFest Pics, Congrats to all OWNERS, great looking cars.

Have a UC which is an original 1978 (and when I got it only 78,000km) Hatch TORANA SL with 202 and Trimatic and here is best part , got 3 years ago with 4 months Reg for $300 Yep $300.

Drive it every day up the Yarra Valley, it's slowly getting rust done in back pillars then Paint .

Drove Pontiacs for 20 odd years (Trans Am's, still got one of the guzzlers), UC HATCHY was first ever Torana to drive and just MAGIC, don't know why I waited this long.

Cheers,

daveml.

Speakin of UC's, I saw a hatch in sydney bout a month ago. White with either one or two red stripes over the centre of it, and was towing some sort of small boat thing. Looked pretty good.

I've seen it at Toranafest and I'm sure I've seen it on here too...

^ I think the owners name is Graham? Really nice car, one of my favourites with flares.

I quite like Chamois Hatch's above as well. Orange just seems to suit the UC perfectly.

Yep that's the one. I like it. And agree Chamois Hatch's one is nice too.

You're not biased about the orange though are you Tony? :P I thought yours looked good too at Toranafest.

Now that conjures up a nice image :) Someone more talented than me could easily photo-shop one (hint hint)

Thanks man :D

Yeah maybe a bit biased but I also reckon Orange helps the tail lights "blend in" so they are not so in yer face.
