Can't be too hard with some help surely, I've only ever done pin strip myself and it was not hard.

Aside from colour it looks just like mine, please post a picture back here if you do get it fitted.

I personally think it looks better without the SS stripes and chrome strips around the windows. Once you put the stripes on you run the risk of damaging the paint if you decide to remove them again.

I think fitting the SS mirrors would be worth the effort.

NO STRIPES

Car looks great.

Had my car painted in December, I chose orange but lime green was my second choice.

Fantastic colour, fantastic wheels. If I want to get picky, change the mirrors.

Regards Mando.

As Kevin says, DY2 which is the black and gold combination. If you are going for a full on concours resto unfortunately (unlike Sandman) you have no no option, as DL7 (delete stripes) was only applicable to SS A9X and it was only added as an RPO to LX on 15th August 1977. I agree with Mando that they look better without them, but others like them.

The only way to be ABSOLUTELY sure is if you have the build sheet for your car?

Down in the bottom right corner, in box #160, it will have either:

"S&B" for RPO "DX5" (Silver/Black/Silver)

"O&R" for RPO "DY1" (Orange/Red/Orange)

"B&G" for RPO "DY2" (Black/Gold/Black)

There's a few mistakes in Norm Darwin's Torana Tough but overall it's a good book to reference.

Do a YouTube search for Holden's RTS TV commercial with PB in the green sedan. The camera car with the tripod is a Contessa Gold SS. It has the BGB stripe.

What I found out is all SS hatch's got the stripes. There was no delete option except for the SS A9X. Refer Note 4. REVISED AUG 1977.

If you were ordering a new SS, it may have been possible to choose one of the three stripe colour combinations but generally the cars got what the factory listed.

In the two lists below some exterior colours got either one or another of the three stripe combinations.

Over the years a lot of SS owners pulled the stripes off as it was seen as unfavourable for a time.

My car had the stripes off when I bought it but just inside the door I found the a thin piece which confirmed my car had the BGB stripes.
