59X is Chestnut vinyl and 59Y is Chestnut vinyl with Herringbone inserts. What the "E" stands for may be lost in time!

The E stands for 82311 (6cyl 2dr S) all vinyl interior.

Edit: The trim codes directly relate to the door trims and seat covers materials.

Happy New Year TPS

I made a slight error in the above explanation. The E code is for all vinyl trim and is also used in the 82369 6cyl 4dr S.

Cheers
Dave.

Hi Lee

I know this is an old post and you may no longer have your LJ, but I am currently trying to work out what the E stands for on my LJ, S 2 door. My trim code is 49E. I have seen the other responses which in my humble view were all just wild guesses and should be ignored. As my car has the original trim and this is an Embroidered cloth full top cover then I am guessing that E stands for Embroidered. I have original sales docs which refer to my S as a Delux which I assumed might have something to do with the E trim. Anyway this may or may not help.

Hi Keith

Assuming your LJ is an 82311 model it seems a bit strange the original sales documents refer to it as a Deluxe. The Deluxe was only available in the 4 cyl Torana range.

Only two trim codes were available on the 82311 & 82369 models, E & F, and I have seen enough S models in my lifetime to know the E trim code does not include cloth trim.

Also, the cloth trims available for LC & LJ Torana models were not embroidered. The only cloth I can think of that GMH used that looked remotely like it may be embroidered was Castillon Weave but even this cloth was only woven not embroidered, and it wasn't available in the LC & LJ Torana range.

The E does not stand for anything specifically, it is just a letter GMH chose to represent all vinyl trim in an LJ Torana S.

Cheers

Dave.
