The flood situation in QLD has gone from very bad to horrific in just a few hours.
4m+ flooding through the streets of Toowoomba have claimed at least four lives so far and the wall off water streamed down the highway carriageways and wiped out Withcott and has since passed through Helidon and Grantham with no current communications from these areas.
7 people are now confirmed dead with around 100 listed as missing -at this time these figures will steadily rise come the morning.
The premier has spent the last half hour crying it seems.

For all those in flood affected areas of all states - if you know other forum members in you area, please make contact to ensure they are alright.
At the moment it is believed that a very large number of disabled residents who may still be trapped in their homes in many flooded regions of Qld, so check on your neighbours.

Good luck to all those who need it.

Grant..

bloody amazing amount of water... did you see the white rav4 in the middle of it with the family on the roof... did they end up saving them or just flying around in their chopper taking video ?

Apparently floodwaters heading into brisbane for wednesday with a high tide.... Wonder what the maximum capacity of Wivenhoe is, considering its already at 140%..

I was absolutely blown away with what I saw on the news, my heart goes out to everyone up North who is struggling. That 8m wall of water that hit Toowoomba really has shown me the devastation of it all.

I hope all our Members and their families and friends are safe, and then hopefully the Torana's are safe and on high ground!

My heart goes out to all down South and those that have gone through it up here, I haven't experienced any of the flooding and get abit emotional when hearing reports on the news, my parents are in Landsborough and thankfully are high and dry (so mum tells me) but Tracie has family members near the Mary River (they are ok) and other areas, it's heartbreaking watching and not being able to do anything.

Went into the CBD of Toowoomba today (about 2 min drive from where I live). It looks like a war zone... Could not believe how high the water line was.

the news chopper didn't have any rescue gear so went and got rescue chopper but lost sight of Rav4 and helped rescue chopper try to relocate it ... un-successfully.

Aparently the family seen in footage on the roof of the white Rav4 were found and they are all ok. There are now two Blackhawks and two Sea Kings on their way to toowoomba. Each Sea King is worth a dozen other choppers in S&R operations and they can lift and carry a bloody lot.

153% when they opened the gates.

I read before that Wivenhoe can hold 200%, but @ 160% they have to start maintaining the flow, and it's only allowed to be over 160% or something for 3 days or something.

I always thought that 100% full meant, 100% full! Anything more and it would be going over the wall! It blows my mind to think how it can be 200% full!

Colin and I were just discussing how you might be faring mate. Good to hear you are ok.

We got told to go home at 12:30pm. It was chaos in the city as the trains were supposedly stopping services at 2pm. When I left the river was about a metre from flooding the walk way along Eagle St in front of our office. Sounds like it is close to that now.

This photo shows the walkway and was taken from lower ground level of our building. I have been told it is close to being under water now.

This one shows the Brisbane Jazz Club (the building behind the yellow boat) looking more like a boat ramp. It had water up to the doors when I left, no doubt it has a bit more now.

The chick I saw walking to work in office attire and gumboots had the right idea. I didnt take a photo though......
