As the title states I'm after some photo's of genuine L34 front brake calipers. I am restoring an SLR5000 with the L34 upgrade. I want to run the exact calipers if possible.

Many thanks in advance

This post refers to L34 calipers. Not sure if they are genuine.

If Datto can't find some I have a pair in the shed that were on the SLR5000 I wrecked last year. They look exactly like HQ PBR calipers with a plug in the original hose hole and a new hole drilled and tapped in the top. I also had some NOS examples a while back with picking slip still attached and they were the same.

Remember though
An A9X was just an overpriced and hard to sell car in its day.... not a 150k+ classic

So all they had was basic brakes of the day
Not something befitting a car of todays inflated values

And the problem with the L34 is since alot have racing history their original parts were removed and never replaced
And when the car finished racing and someone returned it to a road car..... not worth much in those days either... they just stuffed on whatever big Holden gear they had laying around

So I've seen alot... if not most... don't have the right calipers on them unless they are untouched street cars
But thats just my observation

But that pic is a proper L34 caliper... blurry... but its the right thing
They weren't just a HQ caliper with a hole blanked and a hose inlet drilled
They were recessed for copper washer seat and the HQ inlet hole wasn't drilled at all

Beg to differ Datto because if that is the case there are 2 x different styles of L34 caliper. I had a full L34 spare parts setup NOS which included every part different from XU2. Every clip, spring, washer, nut, bolt, axle etc, including calipers, all purchased in the 70's. All with genuine part numbers on them. This all went to Wayne Q in SA many years ago. Those calipers had the bottom hole plugged, top hole machined as Datto states. Also have a secondhand pair that came off an LH XU2 that had a wrecked L34 put through it. Exactly the same calipers as the NOS examples I had. I've also looked at a few others and they have been the same. It is possible that one is an original caliper and one is a spare part caliper, however i'm certain the secondhand ones I have were original to the donor car as they were put on the car I got them off a loooong time ago when L34's were worth squat.
