Ok, so I bought this thing off my mate's Mrs a few years ago, drove it as a daily for a while until the old 2fluffy3 gave way. It sat out the back for another 2 years whilst I built a shed (which dragged on for a while) to start a project on it.

So the plans are this so far-
304 Block preped for 4 bolt mainz/355 etc
C.O.M.E twin manifold
C.O.M.E Aluminum Heads
Mini Tubs/nine inch
Paint
you know the drill

This is what I started with, It looks stuffed because it sat under a few gum trees but actually it has like zero rust in it, original V8, my mate bought it from a deceased estate, the ODO read 136.000 I reckon it was original too.

Then thought I'd start from the front and work my way back, so I had a crack at the Engine bay, starting with the dreaded Battery tray. So I cut it out and welded in some new sheet

I can't get the sheet metal work smooth enough without using a bit of filler, my skills are still eh...developing

Welding the seam up took ages to weld without putting too much heat into the firewall. It also took a long time to grind and sand.

I just used what I had lying around, I had some VT stubs, some 50x50 RHS etc and a 202 Flywheel that I thought would work, providing I could get the heat into the cast flywheel without distorting it I know cast is very hard to weld so I had the MIG on max amps and fed a heap in to mate the flywheel to the stub axels.

Time for a strength test as I was a bit worried about how well the welds would hold so I bolted the car to the rotisserie with the front end still in

Thanks dirtbag, love your work man, I must say I've watched every post of your bro's UC come together and it was greatly inspiring.

I didn't wanna trim the rails back until I could spin the car around with ease, so after I got the rotisserie operational I started on them. But first, I couldn't bare looking the the rad support being rusty for any longer, so just grabbed a rares one

I was a little tricky for me to measure up, I don't get the ruler/tape out much ay

And the re-pro is a fair way off too so it was a bit of a compromise, got it in though.

So then I got into the fun stuff again and trimmed the rails. For me, it took about 8hrs a rail to get right!! dunno how long it has taken other dudes but I didn't find it all that easy
