Ignore the front bellhousing as its custom, but can someone confirm if its a W58 or a R154 etc?

That steel plate in the middle usually means R154

It looks like a R154, the input shaft should be about 190mm long, the drain plug should be horizontal and come out on the drivers side.

This is my R154.

The steel sandwich plates are not a particularly good indicator as they are also used in many W58 (the best ratios for a V8 of the basic Supra) boxes. However the R154 is noticeably bulkier and doesn't have the extra bits on the left side as mentioned above:

Thanks, awesome link 76. Mines definitely a 154 then.

$800 it also has custom bellhousing, a 5-puk button clutch and custom tailshaft. Got it through a mate.

What do they usually go for? someone else told me it was a Steal....

Bargain. Depending on condition of course!

What was it bolted to? That's a crazy looking adapter & very short shaft.

Are you going to use it?

I've been looking for 1, does ya mate have another???????

Assuming it is in good condition yes, its a bargain. If you can find one the importers usually want 2K give or take.
Do you have a photo of the drivers side? Thats the money shot to confirm its an r154. On their own its often not that obvious from the general appearance of the box as it looks just like the lesser supra boxes, just bigger all over like its taken a deep breath in.
Stick them side by side with a w series box and they look enormous in comparison!

From the passenger side view - the W series boxes have a 3rd re-inforcing rib right in the middle at the top. The R154 only has the 2 ribs which can clearly be seen in the above photo.

Hi everyone

I see that you can now buy new R154 boxes from what appears to be reputable suppliers for a reasonable amount, can someone confirm what extra components are required and their availability?

Thanks in advance.
