Thats what Ive found with Tuxedo Black on my LH SL/R 5000. Dosnt seem to be very many of them ever made this colour. LX I think there is a few, but not LH.

what colour is the xu1 next to the black one - kinda looks like that willow paint chip that was posted in the willow thread?

Yes it is Covert and I believe the Black one belongs to John Douglas who sadley passed away recently.

Not the Douglas car. I ended up parking dad's car next to the black one at the museum, I ended up having a great chat with the owners son who was a great guy and into his Mopars he he! He told me his dad is a reclusive collector and that both the black one and the covert one were his, he said its very rare for him to take them out and that he had bought the black one from another fellow who was reluctant to sell but he just kept making offers until the offer was too good to refuse.

No biggy I spoke to Jenny Douglas on the Saturday night and she said the black car was tucked away safely at home.

back in the 1980's, i went looking for a Factory Tuxedo Black SS Hatch, and only found one, and they wouldent Sell it, so i assume they are a very rare item, any Tuxedo Black LX Torana, and LH ones as well.

No Pic's of the interior, I did however stick my scone in the cabin of both cars and they were immaculate, as if driven off the showroom floor that day, Both cars were owned by the one gent, I think his name was Barry he said he has a nice collection of cars and these were 2 of his favorites, both were 1973 Bath Specials both engine numbers on the famous 150 list. They did both look restored to a very high quality. Absolutely immaculate georgious cars, both the owner and the son were good guys and chatted openly about the cars history, all quality. Sunburst

The One Owner Owned the Black XU1 and the Covert XU1 (Next to the Black car in the photo) Both Bath 1973, I felt previldged to see them let alone own them, Lucky bugger. Sunburst

First time here on this forum. Thanks for your kind remarks regarding my cars. The Covert is my favourite along with my L34. I own them , but my son says i'm only looking after them for him along with the rest of the collection. All i need now is a A9X coupe to complete the Torana collection. That black xu-1 was amazing,inside and out very tidy engine bay and the boot.and it was semi gloss around the window frames.as its suppose to be,was a beautiful car mark.

Hey XU150 I chatted with your son Brent and he too is a Mopar guy like myself, I had a great time chatting with him outside the museum he says keeping them clean is a pain in the arse but I think he might secretly have a bit of a soft spot for them "especially the black one" they're both beautiful cars and I'm sure they look fantastic when illuminated by a certain authentic HDT advertising light. Well done man.

An old thread I know but has anyone ever found the XU-1 with Vin L252288 eng JP 397926 that Mike 73 is talking about.
I'm pretty sure I know where it is, actually I'm 99.5% sure it is the car.

Hey Al, I just thought to be 100% clear, the Black XU1 L252288 eng JP 397926, the Ray Thackwell car that Mike 73 is talking about in post #18 is not the Black XU1 that is pictured at XU1's on the mountain 2012 in post #24 and caught up in the muscle car scare in the warehouse in post #47.

No worries Dave, the Black LJ XU1's seem to be not many about. Its a Shame GMH never kept all the Broadcast Sheets from the Factory's back in the day or a list of all the Colours of Cars.
