I think you'd be right in that they're for the front door hinges. Here's a blurry pic of them installed.

Nice paint by the way. It looks amazing!

Looks like all your stuff is pretty well sorted out. Should be a piece of cake putting it together

I just fitted all new drum brake parts to my mates HZ tonight and they look like the springs at the very bottom... But like Black LH said, depends on size... if there bigger then yea door hinge

Ok I'll have a try, would those springs be for the adjusters under the front seats, I have a photo of them and where there located if wanted, but I will have to post them up tomorrow.

Ill get another picture with a ruler in the shot for a better scale pic. There are no springs on the front door hinges currently, so thats what made me think it could be them. Certainly looks like the above picture.

If it is the spring for the hinge... how the bloody hell do you get this on with the door in place??? Or should they have been fitted prior to hanging the door??

Thanks for the comments guys.

These are some pics of the hinge, viewed with the door open from behind and above. If those springs are for the hinges then this is how they'll fit. The length of the spring at rest is about 137mm end to end. I think you can fit them with the door fitted to the car but not sure as the last time I did them was on Brad79UC's when I was re-bushing the hinges and had them off the car.

With the door held fully open you should be able to sit the front part of the spring over the notch in the front edge of the hinge assembly and pull the other end back hard with some multigrips or strong pliers or vice grips or something and slot that end onto the corresponding notch. Good luck. Don't f#%k the paint. Then again they might be for the brake drum.

So was this somebody's street machine before you bought it? Like an unfinished project? Love those wheels by the way. I reckon you should keep them on there.

SLR Torrie: this is a factory Tuxedo black car.

From the info Ive gathered, the guy I bought the car off owned it for 4yrs and had it re-painted approx 2 years ago, he purchased it off a guy that owned it for 22 years and apparently the car was "as is" when he purchased it. So thats 26 years out of 36 accounted for..... So at some stage between being brand spanking and 10 year old, this car was stripped and re-built into some sort of 80's show car...?

I purchased the car as a rolling painted shell. Ive now gotta do the mechanicals, interior and everything else and get it back together....!

I like it Hanra. Keep up the good work. Trying to complete someone else's half completed project would be the most difficult thing to do. I am in the same boat with a F#4d coupe.
Cheers,
Phillip
