So would that plate have been there for that reason?

not 100% sure if the early commodores have that plate too judgelj. Plan is to get the pwr steer rack & new lengthened 1 piece shaft in. & if no dramas there il stick a running 308 in to test to see if the bellhousing & clutch happy with there new home

thanks for the pic rodomo, what are ya plans for the vb? Heres a pic showing the air vent for the rear passengers to keep their strodels warm. This car will have A/C eventually, i like the compressor setup of vn/vs v8s as they are mounted low & should be opposite side of motor away from turbo

thank god the tailshaft has bolt on flanges. I had to remove the input shaft off the tailshaft (4 bolts) insert it into the back of the gearbox, then slide the tailshaft into the rear suspension tunnel/craddle thingy, then bolt back up

There was only a handful of Directors fitted with IRS, & this was the Opel unit as per the Monza. This is different to the later IRS in the Australian Commodores/Statesmans. I've never needed new bushes, so can't help on that one. Sorry.

hey monza1 heres a link to monza forum "TURNBRIGDE WELLS OPEL MONZA APPRECIATION SOCIETY" lol takes ya breath away abit, found the link searching through a commodore forum: http://www.twomas.co...&t=339&start=15

ok so ive pulled me finger out recently & removed the steering column out of the monza. Once the steering box is removed there is only 3 nuts that hold it in place (remove the 2 half way down either side of column 1st, which gives u more room to the last 1 near the firewall you need 15mm socket with a legal size bara worth of extensions bars 2 get it) all the wire terminal clips disconected easy & no need 2 remove steering wheel, indicator stalk or ignition barrell

the monza steering coupling thingy at the end of the column is rectangualish on shaft side & round spline on the box side. Early commodores have round spline intermediate shafts, none that i have found fit (hole isnt big enough). So i removed it. If i lived closer to a city i would of tried searchin for a splined yoke that might fit, but i threw it away as far as could hopefully the dog doesnt bring it back

left is a vl comy intermediate shaft (from what ive heard vb to vn are all round spline at the column) . On the right is a vp/q intermediate shaft. With the monza coupling in the centre

the column end of the vp/q intermediate shaft slides on to the monza column shaft perfectly.

but the vp/q shaft wont mate up to a vb /vn pwr steer rack cause its to long . Il have to modify 2 shafts by removing the column end of the vp/q & put it on to a vk pwr steer shaft (pictured). i think this mod is reversed when they put later model (vp/vs) engine/kframe conversion into early comys?

the vk pwr intermediate shaft was modified by putin a VP colum end onto it so i bolted it to the monza column & put the column back in, then looked in the engine bay & its about 3-4 inch's short haha.. should of measured 1st . thought VK shafts were the same length as VH

ugly as it is at the moment, all that we did was remove brake thingy bolts that hold it to the passenger strut then bend the lines a little to clear the 308

The styling and shape of the Monza reminds me of the Rover SD1. I will prob cop it for having a Rover I seem to from every one else lol.

Yeah They are a sporty looking car. This is my one it doesn't have the front spoiler, back bumper or rear spoiler on it at that time. It would be interesting to see a 2dr version as they already have the lines for a coupe.
But Yeah similar in looks to the Monza Shape that is
