Trans fluid does what you don't want it to do when you spill it everywhere- it soaks in.

Works on black plastic trim that's gone grey too. Soaks in and is a bugger to wash off with water so it should last a while...

Might get rid of that frosty look, shine them up a bit and might fill in the crazing?

Ever heard of 'oiling a stone'? Stones like opal doublets or triplets can have their layers separate and look like crap. A bit of 'light' oil (like baby oil or sewing machine oil) gets in the split and walla- the split disappears!

Well I got the wheels for nothing and the offset is mint so I can't really complain. I don't think they're ideal but I think they're perfect for the time being.

The stock hubcaps are really ugly:

And the original steelies are really ugly too but would probably come up okay if you widened them a lot. But I'm not really interested in having that kind of look anyway. I had more of this kinda thing in mind...

Those caps look OK,but I see where you are going with this.

Not my cup of tea,but far better 20inch Chinese transformer-mask wheels.

I hope you spend max effort with a speedfile if you decide to paint it,the car deserves good paint.

Do you have any leads on a front bar for it at all?

Im thinking you would take one in just about any condition.

There is a bloke I deliver to that has a workshop full of old carona and crown wagons (similar year models to your rig) if you.find out if anything is a similar fit (like a front bar) it might be easier?

Sam mate I just went on there and posted it up, got a very warm welcome! hahaha they love it. Maybe I should move to NZ! Thanks for the heads-up dude

Not your cup of tea? There's a word for that you know... philistine! :tease:

Have no intention of painting the car any time soon. Probably going to make it grow a bit more surface rust for starters... hahaha. Kinda got some leads on the front bar but nothing has come through yet. Not really in a rush, something that's a bit dinted should be fine. I don't really want to cross-breed the car at this stage, we'll see how we go.

Funny how you never notice some cars til someone buys one.
Today i spotted a wagon the same shape and style as yours. It was in very tidy condition and a old guy in 70s was driving it and it still had the early 1970s numberplates still attached.

I smell another car BBQ coming up.

Perhaps we should host it this time in the shed.

Nice car Heath! Got a soft spot for old Jap cars.

By the way, do you know what the model name of those Riversides are? They are fricken awesome!!
I've got a set of 16x 7.5 +0, 16x8 -2 SSR Xr4 Longchamps on my Galant Vr4. Extremely rare in that size.

This is them when I replaced the bolts and polished them up.

frOck yes gotta get on the bbq's again, just so many 21sts atm and being out of Melbourne during the week I don't have many spare evenings!

John those SSR Longchamps are mad as, absolutely want some but they never made XR4s in 5-stud, they had some other 5-stud Longchamps but they aren't as nice. Still I've got my eyes on some knock-off XR4 kinda things, 15x8, I'd probably go +10 with 185s... should sit about right under the arches

I don't know what the Riversides are, if I did I'd be looking for them haha

Heath, couldnt help but comment, the under bonnet light is I believe identical to that fitted from the very early 60s Bluebirds into late 60s Datsuns, they sure got some value out of that design.

Yeah, they are a sweet old jap rim. Have never seen another set of 16's. I reckon I know the the other Longchamps your talking about. They are called XR4Z and are similar but yeah not as good. Come in a big range of sizes and offsets. I thought they were rip-offs when I first saw them.
