Some Jap Crap Wagon

Got a 230 bumper for it, it's a bit bent but at least it's off the right car. Interior now has a rebuilt metric speedo and a rare as hell factory tacho, LED lighting all through the dash and interior. Also scored a factory electric aerial & switch, auto-seek radio and some other things like that. Air con unit has been pissed off with a full under-dash parcel shelf to replace it with a headunit under that. , and it has a decent stereo with bluetooth, two USB's in, adjustable illumination to match the dash at night etc, remote, nice kick from some amped 6.5" woofers, all installed subtlely. Interior was stripped, had some damaged trim fixed up and everything was laid back in with new insulation. Car's been lowered on all four corners, whole diff assembly has been replaced, rebuilt carbie, electronic ignition, fixed up clutch system, probably heaps that I've forgot, but anyway the motor really needs a rebuild and I still haven't got it on gas - I need a second car so I can take it off the road for a while.
But most importantly, found some rare as hell five stud SSR Starsharks, but they were just 14x6.5 +14mm and they had been welded together
After minimal hesitation... snip snip
Drilling extra holes
Little model I did of how they should look in the end. I'm fairly excited. Probably 15 times as expensive as any other set of wheels I've owned. But they should be about the ultimate thing you can get for my car - legitimate 70s SSRs, stepped up to 15", staggered offset and width, heat treated, spun 4mm 6061, polished outers blah blah

They had some pretty trick stuff as standard as well as cool options.
I good mate just aquired a 1970 Crown wagon with an injected 2J in it.
It drives sweet and is a legal 8 seater with a sidways opening dickie seat in the rear.
Its looking good Heath, keep at it.

Totally jealous of the MS5x 8 seater Crown. There's one for sale on gumtree atm with fresh paint for $1500 (don't know if it's actually a Custom Deluxe with the transverse dickie or not), tempted to buy it but I know I shouldn't take on too many things without space for them.
The five stud StarSharks are probably the only set outside of Japan that I've heard about or seen.

Yeah I can't say the idea of a slow, awkward looking wagon really appealed to me much when I was fourteen and bought my first Torana but personal taste really does develop in ways you don't expect it to. I still love Toranas heaps obviously, they're just on a bit of a hold until I get some factory space I think. In a way it's such an old man's car but everyone still thinks it's cool as, which I love. It is a mint daily because I don't care if people open their doors into it etc but I still get as many comments as I did in the green machine.
Totally agree with what you say about driving an awkward slow wagon and still loving it. I'm doing a bit of work on an old FJ40 with the 4.2 2f. Keeping it stock as and I love driving it.

A bit of drilling, holesawing & die grinding resulted in this:
Stoked
And a little completed write-up on the wheels. My masterpiece haha...
Media blasted centres
Stepped up (custom) 15" Whitehorse Industries barrels.
Started doing lots of drilling
Then etch prime, top coat, polish and clear for the centres
Bolted them up:
Lick of silicone to seal them up:
And some donuts stretched on:
Wheel specs are as follows...
Original alloy centred Speed Star Racing Starsharks, Stud pattern 5x114.3mm (4.25")
Barrels machined off and flanges drilled to 16-holes on flange PCD
New heat treated 4140 barrels, 4mm thick, polished outers, bored to suit centre spigots. Done at Whitehorse Industries in Melbourne
New M8 12•9 (high tensile) dome head bolts with nylocs
Fronts are 15x7.75" +7.5mm wrapped in Bridgestone EP100 185/60/R15
Rears are 15x8.5" +5mm wrapped in Bridgestone EP100 195/65/R15
Also picked up this baby:
F54 L28 with twin SUs, extractors, heavy duty clutch, another alternator etc.

Hey what did you use to cut those brackets for the mirrors? They look bloody neat. I actually didn't realise you'd gone to that much effort to fit those mirrors.

Those brackets were just made with normal twist drills, holesaws and carbide burrs. Piece of piss
