Yep, I have 255's on 8's. A good fit, slight bag on the tyre.

Are yours 17's with 40 series or 15 with like 50/60's?

The Toyo recommended rim for a 255/40/17 is 8.5" - 10.0" however the Tyre & Rim Association of Australia manual usually allows a much wider range of rim widths. I don't have a copy of the manual but you should be able to check with a tyre dealer. I expect that you will find a 8" rim is well within the limits.

The Tyre & Rim Association of Australia manual is the Australian Standard.

I have 255/40-17's on 8" rims on my LX front end.

As mentioned above, they bulge slightly on the rims and are not the optimum fit but certainly legal and do-able if that is a word.

I was running 255/40/17's on mine a while ago, they were too tall so I went down to a 245/40/17.

Hi Lx308,

Long but would you have any side on pics of the 255/40/17 on the 17x8?

For reference this is what they look like on a 9" wheel:

I have 245"s on my front 17 x 9.5"s and does not look out of place. Had 275 on for a little time but were a touch too wide.

cheers

I'm Debating swapping my 255/40 17 (17x10)  federals onto a 17x8 hsv tri spoke,

tire offset calculator say ride height should be close to 235/45 17

inner wheel clearance could be a problem though (VL front)
