Those youse might like a few photos from a car show the QTCC attended on the weekend.
This is a straight cut and paste from the QTCC forum so some comments my be irrelevant to here but meh, I cant be bothered making any amendments.
Thanks to the Peter and the other organisers for putting on such a great event. The amenities were good, the bar was open, the scope of cars was excellent and there was plenty of room for the kids to run around.
Thanks also to the members of QTCC who made the effort to show their cars or come along for a look see. I think it is fair to say the Torana's dominated the show :-)
Looking forward to next years event !!
Heres a few more photos to keep you drooling.
Cheers,
T

Very Nice A9X
Love this colour !!
This thing sounded awesome when it was fired up, and it was fired up a couple of times to the delight of the crowd. Wesley even gave it a clap when it was switched off (not sure if it was out of appreciation or because the noise had stopped LOL).
The owner also had the black VK (photo to come) with a very similar engine setup. I guess he likes his blowers.

This Monaro belongs to another bloke from the Caboolture club.
I really like this ute. It is tastefully done and is as neat as a pin. The owner took out one of the people choice prizes and deservedly so.
The VK I was referring to earlier

Big old Buick
Now this thing was just awesome. Total impracticability at its finest. Over half the length of the car is bonnet. Notice where the bonnet stops.... radiator hoses must be on hose reel.
A nice tidy 36 Chev
Love those horns !!
Another car that held my attention for more than a minute.
This is the same sort of car the Brock died in. Apparently the main difference between this car and Brocks was that PB's car had the side intrusion bars removed from the doors for weight reduction. Even if they were in I doubt it would have made much difference.
This little beast won the Peoples Choice award and is a local Maleny car.
Another simply stunning car and sooo much of it too.

The owner of this car was a cool old dude. Also right into his Datsun 240 - 280z's. He reckons he gets left behind on club runs. At a top speed of 80 km\h I wonder why. Must have as much grunt as a HB hehehehe
Now this little car was just as cute as a button. The headlights have been modified so that they swivel left to right and wink. It had the kids mesmerised and gave the adults a good laugh too. The owner was having a heap of fun !!
Could this be the Toranas great great grand father on the mothers side? It is a Vauxhall afterall.

Dunno about the pink highlights everywhere but this did remind me of holidays with my grand parents as a young tacker at Phillip Island in their caravan. The inside of the van was suitably 60-70's inspired.
The engine bay of a Toyota Starlet parked among our cars (no idea whose it was). The dyno sheet reads 337 kw so naturally I went looking for the turbo's. Hmm, no turbo, no intercooler, no nos, no charger. Whats the go? A closer inspection of the dyno sheet revealed it was for a different car altogether (different rego plate). Had me scratching my head for a minute or two.
Old Skool Skyline. Very impressive little car. I still cant work out what the big ribbed tubes are running from the front of the bay to the firewall. Air for inside the car maybe? Its got me stumped anyway.

I don't mind the front bumper on the white LX in your first post (77TLX), good to see some different ideas floating around.

Aaron - "MOST of the Torana's look amazing"? I assume the Orange UC doesnt fall into the category of "most"? In which case I totally agree
Haff and Mort - Yep the bumper on Kevins LX grabbed my attention too. Upon closer inspection it is a pretty good job too. Certainly different and in my opinion, quite tasteful.
Tim - It was good to finally meet you in person and the ute certainly got a few positive comments from what I overheard.
Thanks for all the great comments fellas. I appreciate it
Stay Cool,
T
