Diff in, back boots on. Looks a bit like a 4wd but that will drop with the addition of the engine, gearbox, exhaust, fuel etc. I'd like to see the top of the tyres just covered by the guards.

Thanks Gerry. Each little bit brings it up.

The alloy moulds around the windows will help. I've decided to strip the anodising and polish them up. The stripe down the sides will also change the look...

as will the smoke pouring from the rear tyres on a regular basis.... he he he

If you strip the anodising, you will be forever polishing them.

Once you have them polished and cleaned up, give them a clear coat.

2k preferably, but normal stuff will do in a pinch.

Will keep the shine going a lot longer, with virtually zero work.

Cheers

Rob

Bit more of an update.

Heres my air-con / heater controls before I pulled them apart and soaked in the molasses for a few days - great way to carefully remove rust. The second photo is after the soaking and after I coated the metal in a very lite satin clear coat (henkel) to give some protection.

I've put a bunch of stuff in the engine bay; Rebuilt booster, stainless sleeved master cylinder, rebuilt proportioning valve and new brake lines etc - don't mind the K frame - the

one destined for this car has been disassembled and awaits the blaster

A few more simple developments. Heres a vacuum actuator that cleaned up after soaking in molasses. Came up nicely but still requires paint for the back side.

I've replaced my sun-visors with reproduction ribbed style visors. They seem fairly well made and came up well with a coat of paint and match the headlining.

Finally got around to painting the K frame and all the components. Replace all the rubbers etc. Don't mind the rack, its just a spare to keep the front wheels aligned until I finish building another rack

Out with the old

And in with the new on a trial fit. It will be back out again to fit the engine.

Looks a bit better, I think, with matching front & back wheels.

Thanks Gene,

Hi Greg,

As per Genes response. Tunnels are the same. I've put in a TKO600. Its tight but I've heated and stretched the tunnel a little and it seems to fit. Others have trouble. This car had a Holden M21 in it years ago & they of course fit fine as they are the factory box. The biggest issue was blowing them to pieces ...but then again I wasn't very gentle.

Good luck with your build.

Cheers, Scott

Rebuilt the steering rack and installed. New tie rod ends on harrop steering arms.

Rebuilt the steering column, greased the original bearings and slotted in a sealed bearing as well. I was able to hide it inside the column so it can't be seen.

Love the Grampa look & appreciate the need to keep the sun out of the hatch, so I thought I'd try a louvre. It seems to be a good fit and doesn't look like it will rattle. I think the white will work better than the black by reflecting the heat and it matches the interior. This car used to run an Aunger louvre in the 90's, which worked well but it was tricky to keep the rear window clean beneath - I've always lived in dusty areas.

Louvre locks work well.

Perhaps you can retro fit them.

Bought a couple of sets off ebay a while back

Cheers

Heres a pic of the rear speakers. I've recessed them so that the original panels fit in their original locations and the speakers can't be seen.
