Hi.Can any one tell me please the original coulor for the bottle jack in a Adelaide buid xu1 is it black or the greyblue coulor
The original jack in my LJ (Brissy Built) is black.
The bottle jacks probably would have been manufactured by an outside contractor so I would expect they are all the same colour regardless of where the car was built.

Post a pic. I've never seen a grey/blue bottle, only black and generally quite glossy black too.
I do like the black ones.

One thing I have noticed aswell is there are some with dates on them and some without and only have seen ones with dates on them in the blue/Grey coloured ones.Maybe it is another Adelaide/brisbane thing?

Hi Scotty
I'm glad to hear it - I wasn't 100% sure because there is no date code. Has yours got the folding handle or the one piece?
Cheers

Extract from GMH Dealer service letter dated 8th November 1971.
Lifting Jack Identification
The following information is intended to assist in identifying the various lifting jacks, with respect to their load capacities and application.
Part No..............Capacity............Colour Identification............Application
7429570............1300lbs.............Blue/Grey...........................HK & LC
2817260............1300lbs.............Blue/Grey...........................HT,HG & LC
2823948............1500lbs.............Black..................................HQ P/Van & Utility
2823691............2000lbs.............Orange..............................HQ Cab and Chassis
NOTE:- Part No. 2823948 is used as a service replacement for Part No.2817260
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My guess is at sometime during LJ Torana production the 1300lb blue/grey jack was dropped in favor of the 1500lb black HQ jack.
Maybe it's a 1972 v's 1973 production change.
Also, you won't find the above lifting jack only part no's in the LC or LJ parts books as they list the part no's for the jack and handle assy.

Does any one reproduce the stickers for these? If not, can someone please post a decent pic a sticker can be copied from?
Also, has anyone successfully painted a Blue/Grey bottle jack? If so how does it look? What colour was used?

i really think that the pound change on the jack from 1300lb to 1500lb would have started at the LC-GTR with the change of the opel to the aussy gear box and if by chance it never started there it very well would have started with the LC-CK XU1...

I don't know John, it seems most 1972 LJ's came with the same blue/grey jack as used in the LC. 1973 Brisbane LJ's got the black HQ Jack.
1973 Adelaide LJ jack colour???
Cheers
Dave.
