G'day,

Might sound like a silly question, but does this kit come both with the metal clips as well as the rubber plugs?

https://www.rarespar...product=DTC1000

Also, one kit per door? More or less?

Cheers

I found the sockets completely useless.

They dont stay in the holes in the door, I ended up gluing them in.

absolute shit IMO.

This kit comes with 15 metal clips and 15 plastic sockets to suit the door trim.

These clips are for the door seal there are 25 in a pack.

You are either putting the sockets in the wrong holes or maybe the holes in your door are stuffed the door trim sockets are from original tooling and the door rubber socket we have sold over 50000 this year so if there is a problem with them I would like to know

HX ute, standard doors, I bought the rubber fitting kit from rares, neither side will stay pushed into the holes. There is no "lip" on the black receptacle to retain them in the door, at first I assumed that the "male" clips in the rubbers would stretch the black bucket and make them firm, but to no avail.

I dug out the originals (I had a handful of them) and they stayed pressed in just fine.

And from the replies I got at the time, it would seem I wasnt the only one-

I to had problems with the HJ holden black sockets that fit in the door holes ,i ended up using most of the originals ,the ones that i did get in i had to tap in with a small hammer and in doing so the top piece often broke away,i think the originals could be a softer plastic and give more.

Sorry it took so long to get back to you we were waiting on NOS samples this is Cav's report
LES

LANCE AND I TESTED THESE DOOR SEAL PLUGS THAT WERE COMPLAINED ABOUT ON GMH TORANA (4770719)

THE N.O.S CLIPS ARRIVED TODAY FOR COMPARISON TOO

OUR PLUG WAS ACTUALLY A BETTER FIT THEN THE GENUINE PLUG, THE GENUINE PLUG WENT IN WITH A BIT OF PRESSURE USING A FINGER, THE REPRO PLUG NEEDED TO BE TAPPED IN LIGHTLY, NOT THAT HARD TO GET IN THAT IT WOULD CAUSE A PROBLEM JUST A LIGHT TAP BECAUSE IT WAS SUCH A SNUG FIT

THERE WAS ISSUES FITTING THESE PLUGS TO THE BOTTOM OF THE DOORS AS EVERY HOLE IN THE DOORS HAD STARTED TO RUST THERE, NOT THAT YOU COULD REALLY SEE IT THAT WELL WITHOUT LOOKING CLOSELY BUT ALL THE HOLES THAT WOULD HAVE WATER SITTING ON THEM AT THE VERY BOTTOM OF THE DOOR WERE OVERSIZED AND NEITHER CLIP WOULD STAY IN

ONCE THE CLIPS WERE FITTED TO THE HOLES THAT WERE STILL ORIGINAL (PLUGS THAT RUN VERTICLE IN THE SIDE OF THE DOOR) NEITHER COULD BE REMOVED EASILY FROM THE OUTSIDE, PUSHING ON THE PLUG FROM THE INSIDE OF THE DOOR THE GENUINE CLIP HAD A BIT OF SLOP, YOU COULD PUSH THE CLIP UP AND DOWN BUT IT WOULD COME OUT OF THE DOOR EASILY, OUR CLIP WAS NICE AND SOLID, WOULDNT PUSH OUT AND HAD NO SLOP UP AND DOWN

I HAVE ATTACHED A PHOTO COMPARING THE 2, YOU CAN TELL FROM THE PHOTO THAT THE GENUINE PLUG HAS A SLIGHTLY SMALLER O.D THEN OURS HENCE THE SMALL AMOUNT OF PLAY, THIS PHOTO IS BOTH ATTACHED TO THIS EMAIL AND IS IN THE LINK BELOW INCASE YOU WANTED TO POST THE PHOTO ON GMH TORANA

http://img35.imageshack.us/img35/9690/4770719.jpg

LANCE AND I BOTH CONCLUDED THAT OUR CLIP WAS BETTER THEN THE ORIGINAL AND THERE WAS NO ISSUE WITH THEM FALLING OUT OF A GOOD DOOR

THERE IS STILL THE ISSUE OF THE OVERSIZED HOLES IN A USED DOOR ESPECIALLY CONSIDERING NO MATTER HOW WELL A CAR IS LOOKED AFTER THESE POINTS STILL RUST, NOT BAD ENOUGH THAT SOMEONE WOULD PROBABLY REPAIR THIS SECTION HENCE WHY ALOT OF CARS WOULD PROBABLY JUST BE CLEANED UP AND PAINTED IN THIS AREA AND MAKE OUR PLUGS LOOK LIKE THEY ARE TOO SMALL, IT ONLY TAKES A FRACTION OF A MILLIMETRE OVERSIZE FOR THE PLUGS TO BECOME USELESS DUE TO THERE DESIGN, PERHAPS WE COULD ONE DAY LOOK INTO A BETTER SYSTEM FOR THE PLUGS BUT IN REGARDS TO THERE COMPLAINT OUR PLUGS ARE FINE AND ANY PROBLEM WITH FITMENT I COULD SAFELY SAY LIES WITH THE DOOR/CAR AND NOT US
