I think the next job is to defect the hatch because of the 15x10 alloys on the back.

Bloody hell, what should I do when I build my hatch that will have 17x11's and 9's and a 6-71 supercharger poking through the bonnet :dontknow:

Hey Bud

Love ya work, has been an inspiration and makes it all look very do-able for an amature like me.

Do you know if the wider flares are available for a 4 door?

If not, would it be possible to fit the Hatch flares to the 4 door and modify them to allow the doors to open?
At first glance it would only need the door cuts and some glass work to tidy it up.

Cheers

Late model A9X 4 door flairs are wider than most, they have the bolt hole on the edge of the flair on the door section, L34 and early A9X had the bolt central.

Hi Ruts,
All that info will help me heaps.
Tomorrow morning I am gonna order flares for my hatch from Alfa or Ernick's (Wilson's).
Who does the best fitting ones? Any feedback from anyone would be great.
Ernie at Ernick's even recommended your fitting instructions mate !
Thanks

G'day Alex, I would give Hornet Composites in Melbourne a call on 03 5964 3761. That's where Rob got his extra wide flares from. Their product quality is 1st class. Tell Ernie thanks for the wrap. Welcome to the forum and enjoy the ride. Top bunch of people on this site

Thanks Ruts, it's good to hear from blokes like you that know what they are on about.
I was chasing the slimmer L34 type and whatever is the best fit on the market.
Still Hornet or Ernick's ?

Ernicks don't do the slim L34 style, keen to know who does a good one myself.

Hornet's do the slim type and he says they are as good as his wide hatch flares. His pricing is very good as well although I don't have them with me.

Thanks Ruts,
I've ordered some from Hornets and he was a really good bloke with heaps of info. They definitely do both sizes. I'll follow Ruts' how to guide and let you know how good they are.
I can't go wrong?

Hi Ruts,
My Hornet flares are due in Monday and I've got another question for ya.
(I'll post some feedback on how they fit and quality etc)
I know there are a few factors but what is the best clearance when I'm measuring for rims?
ie. rim to flare and rim to back space to allow for tyre and the ideal width clearance for the tyres.
I'm looking at 15x10 and 15x8. By the way, VPW have great pricing on WELD rims and MT tyres.
Thanks in advance Ruts or anyone who can help.

I have a few issues in regards to the rear flares at the moment. I have the rear hatch flares fitted that don't extend to the bottom of the sill and seem to be different widths.

Instead of modifying them, two flares that extend to the bottom of the sill were purchased. Putting them side by side the new ons seem smaller.

I researched a few threads last night and there are there was a number of hatches were the flare just bolted on no modifications.

Do the new flares need to modified as well or wound it be easier to go all out and modify the existing ones because they already fit?

The holes do not line up

I don't think they ever did extend to the sill on any Torana I have seen.

On the two toranas from dirtbag the flares that go to the bottom of the sill seem to bolt straight on with minimum modifying.

Could it be that the guards have been cut to much and the flares have been stretch to suit?

Different manufacturers do things differently and to differing standards remember you are dealing with a 30+ year old car. Hatchback guards go to the sill front and rear. holes can be in different locations depending on manufacturers molds / quality and also internal widths will also depend on manufacturers mold / quality. Enricks / Wilsons have a good reputation. Hornet composites do extra wide rear flairs and also have a good reputation. I have an original Wilsons kit that i got of John years ago and they still needed a little tweaking to get 100% but i am fussy.
