I am going to buy Buckskin carpet for my car as its the closest I can get to Covert....

Now I notice that Knox lists two different types of loop pile carpet?

This one for $130 F/R

http://www.ebay.com....=item19ca72fe7a

And this type for $280.....!!!!

http://www.ebay.com....=item1c209f4f96

Why the big difference in price? How different do the carpets look?

Have you tried calling them direct to ask? That's the first thing I would do as they are the professionals and should be able to answer your questions.
Cheers Mick.

I will try and call them but sometimes some places just try to sell you the most expensive stuff just for the sake of it... Even though you may not need it... Thats why I was asking for opinions here first. As this is real internet world not $$$ business world.

I was going to go the original loop as well from these guys but the plush looks the same from a foot away and is so much nicer. Mine was 150 plus freight i think. It fits fairly well except over the tunnel was a little gay and took a fair bit of time to get right. It would have been alot worse if i hadnt had thick underlay down. Since you are going 95% the same as factory id just go with the $130 carpet. They all claim their respective carpets are perfect fits.
Cheers

DO NOT get cut / plush pile !

Apart from lying nearly naked on mine (plush) in ' 85 (good times) it's a total b!tch to keep clean...

Stick with loop & you'll be happy as :D

The second link Brad is there new range of carpets

Supposedly an exact reproduction of the materials used during the 60's and 70's, ie 80% rayon and 20% nylon as apposed to acrylic

The say that it is alot harder wearing and feels and looks like the original manufacturer carpets did

It wasn't that bad to fit and as for keeping it clean , it probably would be if I drove it to work wearing dirty workboots everyday. My car is spotless , I drive it then I make it spotless again and it then goes to sleep in my garage. I don't think Brad will be hooking up the trailer , throwing on the gum boots n doing to many tip runs in his soon to be shmick SLR .... Lol :)

You will go blind doing that, or were you accompanied when you were half naked?

People think it is cool not to post stuff these days. If we maintain that approach, it's going to make the forum pretty interesting!!! Others think it is useful to state their personal opinion or view and add little of substance.

Loop pile is definitely longer lasting, and cheaper. Most cars come out with it standard due to its hard wearing qualities, although the cut and plush pile are considered more luxurious (money no object).

When I put in my "plush pile" in the HR was middle of Summer, had 2" of the horsehair underfelting & I was in shorts.

Rolled around inside (half naked) & that's all there is to that.. :P ;)

I touched up the carpet today
I prefer the cut/plush myself for feel
The common loops was much finer than the new stuff
I felt it was too course and I'm not a fan... especially at twice the price

Gte them to post you a sample of each... in the colour you want first

Sorry for the late reply Brad, I've just read this. You are making the correct choice with the cheaper loop pile.
The man from Knox talked me out of the dearer stuff because it suited early Monaros & LC,LJ Toranas but not
my LX. I think your LH may be the same. Ring him, he is very helpfull.

Out of curiosity is the heel mat on the drivers side, the same, similar or completly different to the type used when the car was new

I would go loop anyday - I have tried both.

The original carpets with the rayon did seem to last a lot better than all the aftermarket carpets I have seen.
