I have run 235 60 15 ET streets, 17-18psi was a good pressure for me.

below 15 was definetly not nice past 3/4 track!!

On the road in the wet was lethal! Will avoid from now!

There was an article on the M/T site that did say that they weren't suited that well to manual trans with a solid clutch. My advise would be to go with a slick, 1.6s 60'.

I think you just solved my lauch issue !

I have been hesitant to go slicks cose of the extra cost of front runners & rims (& that i dont go racing enough! ) but i think its just gunna happen now! :D

Oh & fix the #@$^%& syncro in the TKO!

Cheers

It makes sense to be honest...

Also, with my setup, I really need to dump the clutch at about 6k or more. Also, with a button clutch, my setup needs really good grip...

I have seen that the ET Streets have proven performance and some racers do extremely well on them, however I imagine they are not manual and or they may be launching at lower rpms...

Either way, it would be interesting to try both but cant afford that LOL

With over 300 runs down the strip in my car on ET streets I have never been able to launch it any harder than 4100 rpm without lighting it up & anything under 3900 the turbo bogs.

& best 60' was 1.9 :(

Mates are getting 1.6-7 60's but with autos heavier cars & more hp & 10.9 on exactly same tyre

I'm getting keen again now :)

Going fix the box & get some front runner rims made

There you go Grant, a widely diverging set of opinions! It would seem my positive experiences are unusual....

I think all things being equal, on a good clean road in the wet, that the ET streets would perform acceptably.

I also think that on a wet road with oil on it (from some shitbox commo not doubt) that the ETs are probably way worse than a regular grooved boot.

I've only done about dry street km's in mine so I'm not much help :P

& no doubt suspension set up LSD/spool & right foot make a big difference!

In the dry they do stick well!

Hell I even did a tuning day at Barbagello with them on the rear.

Was fun but when they let go they really let go!

Right foot hard on the floor, then step off the clutch! :3gears:  Should look like my pic on the side, when it hooks up, if it doesn't, more revs. :D

Rexy, I agree. I may go for another type of wet/dry weather slick and keep my 15"ET's for the track. My Simmons are 17 so i was needing to purchase anyway. Thanks for the input, and same to the others for sharing their experience.

Warren I have tried more and more revs and all I got was a destroyed diff for my efforts!!

Now I have a nice strong diff, maybe I need a cam change to chase those reves :D

Daz, stop pussy footing around and put the tyres to the test, against me  :stirpot:

When I get some slicks and front runners I will try 7k with a side step of the clutch. Just don't stand behind me as you may get a piece of diff housing in your face lol

Just throwing in one more opinion... I used to run 275/50x15 ET Street Radials on my LX. Best tyre ever in the dry. I stood on it once in the wet (on a good/rough surface road) and was surprised how well they bit. However I recall another occasion in the wet (this time on a glassy smooth road), and they were aqua-planing badly, just cruising. Not nice at all!! I think it all comes down to road surface.

Now your talking, my Hilux diff stands up to it, so the 9" lump should do the job.

It's been a LOOOOONG time between drinks for me, But i have run the ET streets on the Monaro from everything from 12.2 to 11.4 @ 119 Mph.

My 60' time is 1.62 which i think for my vehicle is fairly reasonable.

I've run anywhere from 18 Psi down to 12 Psi depending on the track to try and get some Bite, but all in all they're a great tyre.

I have very rarely run them on the street and they're definitely amazing grip in the dry... I did drive in a bit of rain and i was more petrified than i should have been... They went O.K... TO be treated with respect id say!
