Calling gearbox gurus!:-) Im starting to plan my torrie resto and have found info on this forum that says i replace my 6 cyl aussie4 spd input shaft with a v8 input shaft. While ive got it apart i wanna do any other mods to strengthen it. Can anyone guide me here with a link to a post outilning this. I remember reading a hot holdens mag years ago where mods were done but cant find the mag anymore :-( Any help/guidence appreciated

Cheers

Edit: I plan on putting an 8 in front of it. Nothiung savage but lets say mildish

Nope... they are shit... live with it... lol

Theres bigger bearing mods that can be done... but this weakens other areas

If you really want a stronger box look elsewhere

Or contact forum member "aussie4speeds" He will be able to point you to one thats toughened up

Hi Mate,

we ran holden 4 speeds at the strip in our 202 powered LC went well for alot af years but only the last time we ran it when on the limiter at the startline it would jump out of 1st but if u held it in it would be good.we wernt making alot of power but we ran the best of 12.7 @ 105mph on gas.

Cheers Hayden

Apparantly about all you can do to them is fit heavier circlips (requires macining of groove) that hold clusters together and all
this does is stop the clusters comming adrift otherwise your stuck with the factory strength.

To run those times it would be about 230hp at the tyres, depending on the weight of the car.
