Hi

I have an air chief for an LJ. Does any one know where the speaker wires connect to on the radio. It only has the yellow wire and the arial plug.

I think they only come out with a single speaker, can it be fitted up to 2 speakers?

Also as a separate matter, does anyone know where I can get an original filler panel to go behind the facia

Hoping one of you guys or girls can help out.

Thanks in advance

Billy

Never examined one of these, but if there only appears to be the one power wire going to the unit, on older stuff like this there might be just a small earphone like socket somewhere on the casing where the speaker plugged into.

If you eventually find it can you connect up two speakers?

Depends on the resistance of the speaker, if its two of the original type speakers it would most likely be 8 Ohm and in parallel problably okay, but current speakers would be 4 Ohm and in parallel would damage the output circuit if driven to any appreciable level.

From Memory......

The speaker plugs into the "corner" with a 3.5mm "jack" plug.... actually the original version isn't exactly 3.5mm and using a current 3.5mm mini jack isn't recommended as it doesn't fit right.... and could "burn" out the radio/speaker.

So basically there should be a 'hole' somewhere.

Does this make sense?

It is best to modify this ( internally ) with a flush mount 3.5mm female jack socket if you don't have the original and then use a "current" 3.5mm mini jack for the connection.

Also from memory the original speaker was 16ohm ? ? ?

I have several of these and will check some time next week when I visit my shed.

P.S Please chime in here if you know better as my memory has seen better days....

Thanks a lot Torbirdie and dpz.

There does appear to be a speaker jack socket at the back.

I'll get someone to re fit a new 3.5mm socket for me next week.

Dpz, where you going to check the shed for a speaker or the filler panel?

Cheers
