I have an lj with an rb30 in it atm, i'd proabably go the 308 for easability and cost, but depends what your going for wether you want to go all out with the the rb30 or just drop a standard one in.

There isn't one standard part on my car so it's been very costly lol but yeah, change it up and go a 1/2JZ instead, better engines, better power and can bolt a big turbo to a stock bottom end and last longer then an rb30, that's what i'd do if I had my time again.

look at it this way, rb30 = custom almost everything
308 = lots of ofF the shelf parts

If this is the last chance for a V8 then the choice is obvious...
Otherwise I would vote for the RB

Can you pm the details of the engineer who said he'd pass it?

My lc had 330mm brakes,18 inch wheels & injected 5 litre,mini-tubs etc....might put it back together if an engineer will pass the damn thing.

If you look at the new ruleset, they have just lowered the engine capacity to weight ratio a little which means you should still be able to fit a 308 into a LC/LJ torana, it just means that people wanting to fit larger capacity engines like 350sbc's are not likely to pass.

Have a look at the info Dr Terry has posted in this thread here and you'll see what im talking about.

Wow, only real differences in the body is the top of the dash, the cutout in the rear guards for the indicator repeaters and the panels between the headlight surrounds and the grille on LJ. Also the LC front quarter pannel is slightly different around the headlight surround area.......

Also very early LC's ran the brake lines differently with no proportioning valve.....

I own both, cant pick anything other than that.

Cheers.
