I was considering stripping my lx ss hatchback to inspect the body as I know it's had a respray ontop of the original paint. Is there any product I can use after I've striped the car to bare metal to seal it that won't be a pain in the ass to remove later when the panel beater wants to paint it ( the weather is very humid this time of year). Or is my only option to prime it in etch primer ?

Personally i would bang a quick coat of 1k etch over it. Cheap as shit and easy to apply.

Cheers.

2 pak epoxy etch panelbeater can do repairs over it or grind back etc for rust repairs. Excellent corossion protection as well.

Is the 1k primer easy to remove if he wants to take it back to metal again ? And after I've paint stripped the car what grit do I use to give the car a quick sand over with ?

No one will paint a Torana in Darwin ad be held accoutable if I've primed it incase the prep wasn't done correctly prior to the primer being sprayed I'm a mechanic but no panel beater lol

easy solution...but more work is too strip and etch it to see what you got ....
then remove etch proir to sending it off for repairs...
dirtbag uses 9" 24 grit discs to remove his paint to metal after stripping...
so long as it's cleaned with prepsol and keyed with 24-36 grit sandpaper.i don't seee how it will lift
it etches into the metal...hence the name

If you 1k etch the bare metal 1k primer will remove with thinners later. Although if the cars going to be sitting around a while I would suggest 2pac epoxy to seal it though this dosn't wipe off but as said earlier you can repair over it or grind off where rust repairs are. If you are paintstripping then sanding I would sand it with 80grit on a whizzy and then go over that with 180 or 240 before priming. You don't want to scratch up the car all over with 24/36 grit, you only use this where repairs are cheers

Another option, if you don't want to paint for a while, is lanotec. It's a rush proofing product essentially. You know the stuff from wool? It can be sprayed on, it goes kind of waxy, and it will seal the metal so it doesn't rust (or rust more?) and then can be removed with presol like any other grease or wax. I feel your pain with the weather and humidity, I'm in Katherine, I just hope you have a shed because mine is in an open car port. I will be starting in on it this week, so long as I get a few hours of sunshine a day and can re-cover any bits that need it before the weather gets wet again in the afternoon.
